GOOD MORNING MGA DZONG UG DZAE! GROUP 3-CHARITY (IGAT NGA TIKI)

DESCRIBE THE VARIOUS HAZARDS THAT MAY HAPPEN IN THE WAKE OF TROPICAL CYCLONES, MONSOONS, FLOODS OR IPO-IPO.

TROPICAL CYCLONES Tropical cyclone, also called typhoonor hurricane, an intense circular storm that originates over warm tropical oceans and is characterized by low atmospheric pressure, highwinds, and heavy rain. Drawing energy from the sea surface and maintaining its strength as long as it remains over warm water, a tropical cyclone generates winds that exceed 119 km (74 miles) per hour. In extreme cases winds may hour. exceed 240 km (150 miles) per hour, and gusts may surpass 320 km (200 miles) per hour.stormlowatmospheric pressurehighwindsrainwater

What are the hazards associated with a cyclone? Those that form in the tropics may also be called hurricanes, typhoons, tropicalstorms, and tropical depressions, depending on their size and intensity. The main hazards associated with tropical cyclones are wind gusts and heavy rainfall, but considerable coastal erosion and storm surges can also happen.

What is a cyclone storm? A tropical cyclone is a non-frontal storm system that is characterised by a low pressure center, spiral rain bands and strong winds. Usually it originates over tropical or subtropical waters and rotates clockwise in the southern hemisphere and counter-clockwise in the northern hemisphere.

What are the different types of tropical cyclones? Hurricanes and typhoons are actually types of tropical cyclones, but they have different names so that it's clear where that storm is occurring. Hurricanes are found in the Atlantic and Northeast Pacific, typhoons are found in the Northwest Pacific.

What is the cause of a tropical cyclone? Tropical cyclones typically form over large bodies of relatively warm water. They derive their energy through the evaporation of water from the ocean surface, which ultimately recondenses into clouds and rain when moist air rises and cools to saturation.

What are the effects of the cyclone? The main effects of tropical cyclones include heavy rain, strong wind, large storm surges at landfall, and tornadoes. The destruction from a tropical cyclone depends mainly on its intensity, its size, and its location.

How is a cyclone formed? A tropical cyclone needs two main ingredients: a cluster of thunderstorms and a warm body of water – at least 27ºC – from which the storm gathers its energy. The warm, tropical ocean under a developing storm evaporates then condenses to formclouds, releasing heat throughout the process.

How the flood is formed? A flood occurs when water overflows or inundates land that's normally dry. This can happen in a multitude of ways. Most common is when rivers or streams overflow their banks.... Coastal flooding occurs when a large storm or tsunami causes the sea to surge inland.

FLOODS Flood is a state of high water along a Floods can also occur in rivers when the flow rate exceeds the capacity of the river channel, particularly at bends or meanders in the waterway. Floods often cause damage to homes and businesses if they are in the natural flood plains of rivers. While riverine flood damage can be eliminated by moving away from rivers and other bodies of water, people have traditionally lived and worked by rivers because the land is usually flat and fertile and because rivers provide easy travel and access to commerce and industry.river channel or on the coast.river channelmeanderswaterwayfertile

TORNADO A tornado is a violent rotating column of air extending from a thunderstorm to the ground. The most violent tornadoes are capable of tremendous destruction with wind speeds of up to 300 mph. They can destroy large buildings, uproot trees and hurl vehicles hundreds of yards.

What is the cause of a tornado? The intense spinning of a tornado is partly the result of the updrafts and downdrafts in the thunderstorm (caused by the unstable air) interacting with the wind shear, resulting in a tilting of the wind shear to form an upright tornado vortex.

How many different types of tornadoes are there? Types of Tornadoes. Tornadoes come from mainly two types of thunderstorms: supercell and non-supercell. Tornadoes that come from a supercell thunderstorm are the most common, and often the most dangerous. A rotating updraft is a key to the development of a supercell, and eventually a tornado.

What is the cause and effect of a tornado? Tornadoes are cause by the thunderstorms being extremely large, unstable and with wind shear in the lower region of the atmosphere.... Firstly, when the thunderstorm approaches, the wind direction, speed changes in the upper area of the atmosphere and causes an invisible horizontal spinning effect in the lower region.

MONSOONS A monsoon is a seasonal change in the direction of the prevailing, or strongest, winds of a region. Monsoons cause wet and dry seasons throughout much of the tropics.Monsoons are most often associated with the Indian Ocean.Monsoons always blow from cold to warm regions.

How is the monsoon caused? The monsoon, which is essentially the seasonal reversal in wind direction, causesmost of the rainfall received in India and some other parts of the world. The primarycause of monsoons is the difference between annual temperature trends over land and sea.
