Hardware Training Hello, and welcome to BI HomeGuard 200 Equipment Training. In this lesson, we’ll explore the HG 200 and how it functions. It is recommended that you have a HG 200 with you for this lesson.

Agenda Electronic Monitoring Overview Alcohol Processing Overview BI TAD and HomeBase Features Troubleshooting

Passing the 0.02 Threshold What does it take to get above a 0.02 BAC level? Depends on several factors: Body weight Tolerance Food intake Physical activity Type of alcohol Time

Passing the 0.02 Threshold For these ingested substances to pass the 0.02 threshold, it would take approximately1: NyQuil (10% alcohol): 4 shots; nearly an entire 6 ounce bottle Listerine (26.9% alcohol): 1.5 shots Synthetic vanilla extract (35%): 1.14 shots 1 Assumptions: a 180 pound man, empty stomach, drinks taken over two hour period, and a shot size of 1.25 ounces.

How the Body Processes Alcohol Not digested like other foods; goes straight to blood stream About 90% of alcohol metabolized through liver; other10% excreted from body unchanged through breath, urine and sweat (sweat is roughly 1%) Rate of metabolism depends on many factors: Drink strength Drinking speed Food Body weight Time

How TAD Works TAD rests against skin and continuously monitors for alcohol TAD senses both sensible and insensible perspiration using a Mechanical Electrode Assembly (MEA) MEA developed for detection of alcohol in bio-medical field Data downloaded to BI HomeBase™ when within range (50 feet) Optional RF/GPS monitoring component allows for curfew monitoring/tracking Capable of storing a week’s worth of data Scientific algorithm analyzes data for drinking events

BI TAD – Key Product Features Alcohol Detection Module Truly continuous monitoring of alcohol Tests every minute, records every 5 minutes Provides most intensive testing available BI Monitoring Operations offers unmatched customer service and support 24x7x365 Support on weekends and holidays Waterproof design Waterproof up to three feet Generates water submersion event Battery, Recharge Solution, and Calibration lasts 6 months. All TAD units must be recalibrated every 6 months. Return to manufacturing for this service. TAD can store data for one week ADM Filter

Seven Tamper Technologies Working Together Motion sensor Extended periods of time may indicate device is no longer on client’s ankle Water detection Detects if the device is submerged for longer than 20 minutes Skin Conductivity Monitor Ensures the alcohol sensor is firmly against the client’s skin Proximity Detection Ensures entire unit is close enough to client’s leg Temperature Monitoring Testing for high or low temperature readings Infra-Red sensor for “gunk” build up Monitors for debris that may block alcohol sensor Fiber Optic Strap Detects attempts to cut or open strap

Fiber Optic Strap Fiber Optic Strap Detects attempts to cut or open strap NEVER cut the straps when removing TAD unit from client Straps are reusable between clients when cleaned

HomeBase Features Operates on 2 RF Frequencies 314 MHz Standard RF for curfew/range monitoring 904 MHz Wireless Data Transfer for Alcohol/Environmental Measurements (50 feet) Landline and Cellular functionality Range 35’, 75’, & 150’ 48 Hour Back-Up battery Stores 90,000 events

TAD with RF in Home Monitoring Client equipped with a TAD on the leg Client also has HomeBase for RF monitoring in the home Goes about normal daily functions Client must download data within 15 minutes of arriving home If client does not download the HomeBase sounder goes off Similar in functionality to Requirement to Dock tracker Does normal RF monitoring while at home Download for 1 days information is less than 1 min 2,500 alcohol records Officer reviews the Daily Summary data

Parts

HomeBase Troubleshooting Power Loss A power outage occurred. (Storms, bill not paid, construction, breaker) The client has disconnected the equipment from the power source. The receiver may be connected to an outlet controlled by a light switch. The receiver has possibly been relocated. Phone Loss The phone cord has been damaged There is a problem with the phone jack The client has disconnected the equipment from the phone line An issue with the phone service (outage, lines down, etc) has occurred

HomeGuard Troubleshooting Receiver Missed Callback The phone line has been disconnected or service disrupted. The client is tying up the phone line. Location Verify Expired The receiver is not connected to the proper phone line. The central monitoring computer has an incorrect phone number in its database. The client’s telephone is off the hook. The client has possibly relocated the receiver. The client answered the location verification call. Client has a privacy manager or call intercept which may be blocking the call from the central monitoring computer. The client’s phone service may not support the Location Verify feature

TAD Troubleshooting Transmitter Not Found Incorrect serial number was entered into the database. The transmitter is out of range of the receiver during installation. The transmitter battery is defective or not installed properly. The transmitter is not sending a signal (may need a replacement). (rare) The receiver is not recognizing the transmitter’s signal (may need a replacement). (very rare)

TAD Troubleshooting Strap Tamper / Proximity Tamper The TAD strap was cut off or removed. The TAD was not fitted properly. The unit is too loose on the client’s ankle. Damage to the buckle assembly Strap was stretched more than 65 ft/lbs Internal damage to strap TAD Still in Tampered State event generates if the TAD transmitter has been in tamper greater than 24 hours and will generate daily until the tamper is restored

TAD Troubleshooting “Leave” messages in TotalAccess The client is outside of the receiver’s range. There are obstructions between the transmitter and receiver which are reducing the radio frequency range. Relocate the unit making sure that it is centrally located.

TAD Graph Overview Example
