Passing the SAE and PET

What the Social Science Content Exam Covers Geography: 10% Economics: 15% Government/Political Science: 15% World History: 25% American History: 25% Social Science Methodology: 10%

The Order Matters! The test will mimic the percentage breakdown given by the Florida DOE For example, the first ten questions could be all about geography

Geography Tips Be comfortable with reading and interpreting maps Study the six elements of geography Be aware of the different climates and ecosystems around the world

Economics Tips Understand the differences between the four economic systems and examples that could be found in the world Understand how supply and demand interact in the various economic systems Be comfortable interpreting a supply and demand graph

Government Tips Be aware of the separation of powers and responsibilities within the American government Understand how outside forces (media, interest groups, political parties) influence voters Compare and contrast various government systems

World History Tips Be comfortable explaining characteristics of prehistoric/early civilizations Identify contributions from ancient civilizations (GREEKS/ROMANS!), Renaissance, and Reformation (LUTHER!) Understand current global issues and events

General Tips Don’t stress! Your Education classes have prepared you for the PET The PET may seem subjective, but pick out the answer that makes the most sense to you Trust your instincts Spend the most time reviewing subjects that are the weakest/oldest for you You got this!!
