What is the NUS extra card? This is an NUS extra card  The NUS extra card is a which entitles the cardholder to 200 brand discounts. A student can buy the card for 1, 2 or 3 years and the proceeds of the card goes to two places: and the rest goes to the NUS for running pioneering campaigns. student discount card your union earns commission

Why should I sell it? £4.70

Commission rate per card:

NUS extra provides circa £3m commission to SU’s per annum Did you know? There are 850,000 active NUS extra cardholders NUS extra provides circa £3m commission to SU’s per annum

Registering to sell the NUS extra card As an affiliate of the National Union of Students (NUS)… What does that mean? That means that your members are eligible to buy the NUS extra card and, by doing so, your union will earn commission on the cards that they buy. you are already registered to sell the NUS extra card

Who can buy an NUS extra card? Your members (students) Your staff

How do you buy an NUS extra card? If your SU has a printer on campus, your students can buy direct from you! It’s fast and efficient, and means your students can walk away with an NUS extra card as soon as they’ve purchased it!

How do you buy an NUS extra card? 1 Visit www.cards.nusextra.co.uk 2 Enter an email address 3 Enter the place of study 4 Enter the education details: period of study, course level and discipline 5 Choose the card type and add any additional products into your basket 6 Upload or take a photograph (note: this will be printed in the card) 7 Complete all personal details: name, date of birth, contact details, card delivery preference 8 Tick the box to accept the terms and conditions 9 Make your payment 10 Process complete

What’s included in the purchase? Additional products (bolt-on’s) for 1, 2 and 3 year cards: Additional products (bolt-on’s) for 1 year cards only: +£1 delivery to your home address // FREE to SU // Click & Collect

What support will NUS offer me? Online resources via NUS Connect including: Sales tips Marketing materials Information on card types and sales channels And much more! FREE NUS extra resources: Core POS Welcome/Freshers’ Week materials Additional campaign materials. E.g. Use as many available channels as possible: Promoting the card Use as many available channels as possible: Your website Your digital screens – if applicable (e.g. SubTV, Redbus) Your social media platforms Use the FREE NUS extra printed materials – flyers, posters, free-standing displays, z-cards, ceiling hanging boards Prepare to download/order the NUS extra core materials and push NUS extra all year round

Use as many available channels as possible: Promoting the card Use as many available channels as possible: Run the “Make Your Money Back” campaign in a BIG WAY during Welcome / Freshers’ Week Run all of our campaigns, e.g. Free ISIC Encourage your membership to promote the card – incentivise your sports clubs or societies to push it to their members Sell bundles which include the NUS extra card (e.g. sell a Ball ticket, a hoodie and an NUS extra card together)

commission for your Union! So… just imagine… £4,700 Your union has 10,000 students To 10% of your students That’s ….. commission for your Union! What about to 20% of your students? That’s £9,400… You sell… Let’s double it… to 40% of your students That’s £18,800… What about HALF of your students?! That’s £23,500!

Case Study One SU decided to put a little extra effort into selling the NUS extra card this year… Their sales for July to December 2014 were 1,108 cards Their sales for July to December 2015 are 2,085 cards That’s an 88% increase and a whopping £9,799.50 earned in commission!
