2 - SURFACE + PATTERN Year 10 GCSE ART

Coursework 2… Surface and pattern Explore idea- http://www.pinterest.com/shelleywood83 Look for the “KS4” boards that explore each theme. Its often easier to find artists first- to be inspired by. Make a plan- Theme- choose from Portrait, Sea Life, Architecture / Landscape, Anatomy or Natural Forms. List photographs you need to take- location, objects, when?

UN Sustainable Development Goals Consider the UN SDGs when adding meaning and context to your work! e.g. Unit 1- Layers- 2D When tackling the theme of Layers, I initially looked at seed pods and those sorts of natural forms, as I was interested in the visual aspect of their structures. As I was experimenting with printing methods, paper cutting and digital layering, I began thinking about the issue of climate change and its affect on the natural forms that I am studying. The seeds and pods that I was investigating have evolved and changed over time to become efficient in reproducing the plant, tree or grass that it will grow into. However, due to the impact of our industrial development and lack of care with regards to pollution, our climate is changing at a much faster pace than it should and so the natural forms, organisms and wildlife may not be able to evolve with it. Through the use of layering, dark tones and image removal, I hope to show this concern in my work. (Goal 13- Climate Action)
