Parasaurolophus Facts and Theories By: Tyler, Mackenzie, John M., and Catie

Facts # 1 and # 2 They were 10 meters (33 feet)in length & weighed 3.5 tons. Parasaurolophus is 40 feet long & 12 meters wide. They had large head crests they used for trumpeting.

Facts # 3 and # 4 It had hundreds of small teeth with sharp cutting edges that it used for chewing. It’s name means “Ridged Lizard”. ‘

Fact Facts # 5 and 6 Parasaurolophus ate plants, because it’s a herbivore. You pronounce it like this parah-sore-owe-loaf.

Facts # 7 & # 8 A Parasaurolophus is about as long as a RV. It was a duckbill dinosaur.

Facts # 9 & 10 The dinosaur weighed about 6000 pounds or 3,000 kilograms. It lived 74 million years ago during the late cretaceous period in part of the world that is now is North America.

Facts # 11 & # 12 The Parasaurolophus was a fast runner, because it had strong legs. Parasaurolophus fossils have been found in Alberta, Canada as well as Utah & New Mexico U.S.A.

Facts # 13 & # 14 Parasaurolophus had a big brain. His snout is connected to his throat ,and when it makes a sound, it resonates in the bone chambers like a super-low-frequency foghorn.

Fact # 15 The parasaurolophus is a dino called the ornithopods.

Theories # 1 and 2 Scientists believe parasaurolophus may have died from the plants dying, so they starved to death. Most scientists agree the Parasaurolophus’ crest helped the dinosaur hear better and also regulated body temperature.

Thanks for watching our presentation Bye-Bye!
