Early years Horatio Nelson was the sixth of 11 children of the village rector, Edmund Nelson, and his wife, Catherine. Nelson was born in a gentle, scholarly and poor family.

When Horatio’s mother died, Captain Suckling, her brother, agreed to take the boy to sea.

In Naples Nelson met Sir William Hamilton and his wife Emma. Emma Hamilton

Battles of Cape St. Vincent and the Nile

Nelson continued to meet with Emma Hamilton Nelson continued to meet with Emma Hamilton. Then he sent from London for his connection with Emma. During his travelling Nelson heard that she had born him a daughter named Horatia.

When Nelson returned, he bought an elegant country house in Merton Place, where he lived with Emma.
