The Prayer Room

To communicate with a divine power. Why bother praying? To communicate with a divine power. A BBC survey in 2004 suggested roughly six out of 10 people in the UK believe in some sort of divine being and research concludes that there is a basic human desire for supernatural involvement in matters of health and wellbeing. The front page of the Sun newspaper is devoted to the headline "God is in Control" below the subheading "Praying for Muamba". "In God's Hands" says the Daily Star. Chelsea defender Gary Cahill pulled off his shirt after scoring yesterday to reveal a vest encouraging supporters to "Pray 4 Muamba", his former team-mate.

The Prayer Room in the Academy, is a place you can go to spend time reflecting, or to pray. It is open everyday. Feel free to use the creative space! During break and lunchtimes (on tues, weds & Thurs) Amy (Schools YouthWorker) is also there if you need a chat. Jessie J dedicated her single ‘Thunder’ to God, telling The Mirror: "I prayed a lot when I worked on this album. I'm more confident and feel more comfortable to be open about my beliefs... I thank God every day for my blessings and my talent." 

Where is the Prayer Room in the Academy? And What does it look like? The prayer room is the first door on the left, on the corridor where the PE office is.
