Short-range weather forecasts Meteorologists predicts short-range weather conditions by a bunch of different techniques, one being called the persistence forecasting. Persistence forecasting is when they assume the weather patterns in the future.

Where the weather has been changing a lot persistence forecasting is only good for a few hours. Another technique being nowcasting. This forecasts the weather up to 6 hours. This is the most helpful for predicting storms.

Long Range Forecasting(3-7 days) Long Range Forecasting relies on computer- based statistical analysis of past weather data. The further into the future a forecast is made, the less reliable it becomes. They are much less reliable then meteorologists would like. Why are long range forecasts less accurate? The main reason is computer models have have to make certain assumptions about how the atmosphere will behave.

Effect of weather on transportation The majority of transportation to get goods and do things you want relies on roads, ferries, railways and air traffic. Because of bad weather it has caused a lot of accidents plus road damage each year. The amount of money from accidents each year is over 1 billion. The amount to repair roads is a great number as well. We don't have to repair roads just from accidents but also from really bad storms.

Effects of weather on marine industries Because of bad weather people who fish or do offshore oil development have high rises of a injury or death. It gets dangerous because of people working on the boats in wet or icy weather pulling in nets, handling traps and mechanical equipment. Nova Scotia has a history of losing people at sea and their fishing vessels.

People that fish get put under pressure to get a pay to get the things that they need for a living that after so long of bad weather and not fishing, they make things decision that they would never make.

Air transportation Air transportation is one of the most sensitive to weather. It relies a lot on short-range and long- range forecasts and pre-flight and in-flight plans. All the decisions are made by the weather forecasts, either to cancel or reroute flights. This is done to avoid dangerous weather conditions. With the weather forecasts it eliminates risks for an aircraft and passengers.

Weather Effects On Agriculture Our food depends greatly on the certain types of weather we get. You need a balance of rain and sunshine to grow good healthy crops, but more of rain or sunshine can ruin your plants.

Both animals and plants are effected by extreme conditions Both animals and plants are effected by extreme conditions. If you have cattle then usually you have them home from the pasture soon as the snow starts to show. If not then the snow will cover the food for the cows and will probably result in death.

Weather Effects On Forestry The most harmful weather effect on the forestry industry can be heat. In the summer the warm temperatures because of how dry everything becomes. This make it extremely easy for fires to start and spread. You are only aloud to burn when the fire index is below high.

Forest fires can result in losses of millions of dollars for the forest industry and can cause major property damage. The financial cost of fighting forest fires annually costs $400 million.
