Augmented learning in the classroom can make lessons more vibrant and eye catching and students can have a better understanding of scientific & technical principles. AR can also be a cost savings for schools.

Open Educational Resources Free teaching & learning materials New markets for Colleges Remember - A missed opportunity prevents your institution from achieving full potential.

“We must provide an alternative to the noxious rhetoric that is eroding our dignity as human beings, finding ways to show the public what civil discourse looks and sounds like, how people can engage in productive, respectful disagreement. We need to help focus the public consciousness and discourse… not on whom we hate, what we’re afraid of and whom we blame, but on the ideas the strategies that will enable us to manage the immense challenges that face us as a nation, and that will allow us to fulfill our collective dreams as a people.”

Competency Based Education (CBE)

PREPARE your institution for change

A Tales or Two about Telltales… Understanding what your sail is doing is not magic. Telltales feed you information about how the air is flowing, or not, across your sails.  Understanding how to interpret your telltales, and more importantly to adjust the sail based on what they are telling you is the key to proper sail trim.

Batten: Leadership Preparation Establish an “all in” relationship with the Board. Commitment of the President and the Board to each other. Engage the Board in generative thinking.

Batten: Institutional Preparation Cultural norms can make innovation hard. Understand the socialization process – how do employees assign meaning to their work environment? Climate survey to assessment of institutional readiness for change. Creating a culture of accountability. Share the “why” behind the change.

5 STEP TALENT FORMULA @ JACKSON COLLEGE Institutional Culture….are they ready? Talent Recruitment Selection On-Boarding Retention Development 5 STEP TALENT FORMULA @ JACKSON COLLEGE

Get your crew on board! Ask for input and include to avoid resistance.

Batten: Assessment and Planning Assess your environment - what is your unique value proposition? Find innovations that will improve your position. Participate in some “Mental Minecraft.” Risk-reward assessment. Plan, Plan and Plan some more. Select initiatives that will provide high results for resources invested. Effective internal communication = less disruption implementation of innovation.

Batten: Execution and Evaluation Keep in mind for successful execution… Is there organizational dissatisfaction? Well articulated vision of the institutional transformation. Well defined implementation plan and broadly communication. Be ready for the unexpected during execution. Evaluation: Use data to track progress – determine key performance metrics (KPI’s) Post-Hoc evaluation – collect experiences, discuss, debate, etc. Inform the future. Plus/Delta
