Global Dimension & Climate Change Session 1: Too much water

Session 1 Objectives: All pupils will be able to provide examples of the impact of water around the world. Most pupils will be able to describe the consequences of flooding around the world. Some pupils will be able to make comparisons between the impacts of flooding in different places around the world.

Flooding in Cockermouth Where is Cockermouth? What is the main industry? What are the buildings made of? How do YOU think they cope with flooding?

Flooding in Pakistan Where is Pakistan? What is the main industry? What are the buildings made of? How do YOU think they cope with flooding?

Flooding in the news READ the newspaper article. The read it again and highlight the effects on: People Buildings Wildlife and plants THEN compare the article about Cockermouth to the one on Pakistan. Are there many differences? If so what are they? Why?

Why is water important?

Is water valued more in other parts of the world?
