Presentation transcript:

Scripture is quite clear in its presentation that we must “become” a child of God.

Have you ever come to the place where you’ve seriously questioned why you are waking up early most Sundays to go to church, when many of your neighbours are happily snoozing in their beds or relaxing in their homes, comfortable in their jammies, coffee mug in hand?

The church finds its primary purpose in the worship of God.

Before Christianity is a philosophy, before it’s a theology, before it’s a way of life, Christianity is news. Christianity is about something that happened, something factual. Worship then emerges from a place of encounter with God. Worship centres on God’s nature and bubbles up in response to His activity.

Worship: “Filling our tanks” versus “emptying our tanks” Worship is not just any response to God or the good news He's initiated; it is a response of sacrificial obedience to Him.

Only through the joint experience of His people could we even begin to scratch the surface of heralding the good news of what God has done.

AS Our worship and praise brings the Kingdom of God into greater proximity and ushers those who are not yet God’s people into the embrace of Jesus. Our worship is “for others” as it invites them into an experience of the good news of Jesus Christ.

Might our worship rise toward God as burnt incense, might the scent of our corporate worship fill this place and might, through our worship, those who are yet to know Jesus catch a whiff of Jesus and be drawn to Him.

Might our worship become centered on celebrating the greatness of God, might it become more corporate in nature and might the community around us encounter Jesus as our worship transforms us into His image.
