How we’ll use ClassDojo :) As a teacher, I will: Post important updates and announcements Share photos and videos of our classroom activities Students can also share their classwork on their own digital portfolio. Only their family will be able to view their work.

What do parents see? You’ll see the “Story” of our classroom: photos and videos of big moments, important updates, plus your child’s digital portfolio! You can also view a “report” of your child’s feedback for skills we are encouraging in class.

Flexible Seating A variety of available seating options Students choose where to sit, keeping in mind that their choice should be one that helps them do their best Students have chosen a new seat every day since the beginning of the year, but will soon be picking for the week Any student(s) who are not making good choices with class behavior may be moved. Request – we are looking for cushions for the stools and/or lap desks.

Classroom Economy Students all have jobs that they applied for and keep for the year Students will receive salaries from the Campbell National Bank (it’s all fake – I don’t have that kind of money) The money is kept is the Campbell National Bank, on the online site mykidsbank.org We have bankers that are responsible for making sure the money is deposited and withdrawn as needed Students will also receive checks to use to make payments as necessary

Independent Reading 30 minutes of reading, 7 days a week Reading goals – 25 pages a day minimum Students reading at his/her reading level should be able to read one page per minute. If necessary, adjustments may be made. Students choose what they want to read. Provides great opportunities for teacher/student conferencing. Biblionasium – student accountability for reading Epic! – Free books available for all technology devices (access free at school but also a subscription can be purchased for home)

Math Curriculum Based on the Common Core Standards: Eureka Math QR codes available for support Student workbook is available on my website under math (for those days when students forget their books) Additional Eureka math help is available on my math site http://www.antioch34.com/webpages/KCampbell34/ Rocket Math – promotes math fluency Other Resources – application problems, games, and sprints to support and reinforce learning

Science Units STEM - once a week Space The Human Body Matter Mystery Science STEM - once a week

Project Lead the Way Robotics and Automation Students explore the ways robots are used in today’s world and then design a mobile robot that can remove hazardous materials from a disaster site. Robotics and Automation: Challenge Students explore mechanical design and computer programming and design an automatic-guided vehicle to deliver supplies in a hospital. Infection: Detection Students explore the transmission of infection and run an experiment to help find ways to prevent the spread of illness. Infection: Modeling and Simulation Students investigate models and simulations and apply their knowledge to program a model that simulates the spread of infections.
