Where do our fundraising dollars go? Back to our kids! Last year, the PTO presented the district with a year-end gift of $10,000. Half of this PTO donation was used by GW School to purchase 14 new iPad minis for students, and the other $5,000 was used by EVG School to purchase 18 new student Chromebooks. In addition, the PTO’s Book Fair fundraisers resulted in a year-end gift to the district of over $8,000 in Scholastic dollars. This money was used to purchase new classroom library books and student magazine subscriptions for all students in Grades Pre-K to 6.

STAY CONNECTED It’s easy to be “in the know” with your child’s classroom and school! We have multiple ways for you to stay connected! 1. The PTO has private Facebook pages for both GW and EVG Schools (George Washington School and/or Eleanor Van Gelder School). Once you request to join, you MUST reply to Julie’s direct FB message to confirm you are affiliated with the school district as a parent or guardian. 2. A fully interactive website at www.edgewaterpto.com where you can keep track of upcoming PTO sponsored events, sign up for volunteer opportunities, participate in different fundraising events, etc. 3. Sign up and subscribe for E-Alerts (email and text messages) through the Edgewater School District Website at www.edgewaterschools.org. These messages come directly from the school administrators and principals. 4. The Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) webpage is on the Edgewater School District Website www.edgewaterschools.org 5. Connect with your Class Parent and be included on your classroom directory! Each classroom has an assigned class parent who will keep you updated on classroom and school wide events. 6. Edgewater Education Foundation (EEF) The Edgewater Education Foundation is a non-profit independent organization whose mission is to further STEAM education for the Edgewater Students from Kindergarten through 12th grade.  The EEF raises funds to provide grants to teachers and the schools so that they can offer STEAM activities, education and technology to our children.    What’s the difference between the Edgewater PTO and the EEF? The PTO is comprised of parents whose children are currently in the Edgewater School District (GW and EVG). The EEF is comprised of parents whose children are in GW, EVG, Leonia Middle School and in Leonia High School, other community members and interested companies.  The Edgewater PTO and EEF are both public charities registered as 501C3 with the IRS, however, the EEF’s fundraising capabilities have a broader scope outside of the two Edgewater district schools. Can I be part of both the PTO and the EEF? Absolutely! Email the EEF at EdgewaterEducationFoundation@gmail.com with questions on how to be involved!

Edgewater Community Tree The Edgewater Community Trees are located in the lobby areas at both GW and EVG. You can purchase a leaf with your child’s name or your family name displayed for years to come. The cost of a leaf with engravement is $100, where a 50% of the proceeds goes to the Edgewater PTO and a 50% goes to the Edgewater Education Foundation to support Edgewater’s STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Arts Math) Grant initiative. We are one community, growing together!

2018 Under The Sea Gala The 2018 Under The Sea Gala will continue to raise funds and provide GW, EVG, LMS and LHS students/teachers with grants that further STEAM educational activities. Join us in our quest to raise $150,000 for our kids! The event will include tricky tray basket tickets, silent and live auction items, dinner, dancing and fun! You can help by attending, providing financial support, products, gift certificates, event tickets, services, travel, memorabilia, etc. All donors will also be listed in the program book.
