Global Competency

21st Century Learning Welcome to the online Global Competency course used by the Kenton County School District and managed by Mr. DeAtley, foreign language teacher at Woodland Middle School. You will be joining other Kenton County students as you complete this self-paced curriculum. By completing this course, you will have an opportunity to explore other cultures using Google Classroom and to learn a foreign language using the program Duolingo. You will be able to create, communicate, and collaborate with other students in your school and across the district, all while working in a personalized learning environment.

What is Duolingo?

You will have the opportunity to learn one of the following languages: * Spanish * French * German * Italian * English

Google Classroom (Quick Link) Access the Kenton County School Website: Click on Students Click on Google Classroom

Join Google Classroom Now join Mr. DeAtley’s Duolingo Classroom: Click the + button. Enter the class code: 7bnxze Click JOIN to access the class information 1. Enter your KENTON COUNTY SCHOOL email and password. 2. Read the Welcome Message and Click “Accept” 3. In the bottom right corner, click Student.

Duolingo Account Creation Once you have logged into Google Classroom and joined Mr. DeAtley’s class, the first announcement will provide instructions on how to create your Duolingo account. When signing up, please follow these guidelines: Email: Use KENTON COUNTY SCHOOLS email address Username: firstname.lastname (if it is already taken add a 1 to the end) Password: same as your school computer login See the following instructions for screenshots of step-by-step information Use one of these class codes depending on the language you want to learn. Step 1: Join a Duolingo Classroom Type in the class code for the language you chose

Step 2: Create a Duolingo Account CLICK “Create an Account”

Step 3: Sign Up Enter all the information into the appropriate fields beginning with your full name. EMAIL: Use your KENTON COUNTY SCHOOLS email address Username: firstname.lastname (if this is already taken please add a 1 after your lastname Password: same as your KENTON COUNTY SCHOOLS email password Click “Create Account” and begin LEARNING!
