Give this form to the RD at the end of the session. Introduce yourselves and tell how many years have been in the position (RD, RA) If have time, maybe have an ice breaker – at least let everyone introduce themselves (prospective applicants) Be A Part of Something ExtRAordinary!

Who Are Resident Assistants? RA Recruitment Interest Session (14-15) Who Are Resident Assistants? RAs are student staff members whom are expected to play a variety of constantly changing roles and are responsible for creating and maintaining a residential environment that is conducive to living and learning. Each RA must be flexible and creative in meeting the residents’ needs by serving as a: role model mediator university resource advisor community developer programmer educator mentor friend Resident Assistants are students selected on the basis of leadership, experience, scholarship, and the desire to help residents realize their potential for self-development through group living. They are representatives of Apartment Residence Life and the Housing Office and serve as official staff members of the University. RAs are responsible for developing a community environment that fosters academic success, community, and campus engagement. RAs should be role models for residents and show genuine care and concern for the students who live on campus. The key to a Resident Assistant's success is finding the balance between their role in the classroom, within their designated community or communities, and the community at large. Resident Assistants are expected to assign priority to their RA position over all other non-academic activities. However, the department realizes that success is contingent upon a good balance of all areas of an individual’s life. Please explain the different roles that RAs can play

Requirements for Application RA Recruitment Interest Session (14-15) Requirements for Application Live-On Requirement 2 semesters on campus required – living in a UTA residence hall, UTA on-campus apartment, or Centennial Court GPA Requirement 2.50 – Cumulative GPA at time of application Disciplinary Status Requirement in good standing with Office of Community Standards & Apartment & Residence Life Housing Rent & plan paid and current which canmeal vary. Requirements: 2 semesters of living on campus is required – living in a res hall, apartment or Centennial Court. If you have not lived on campus for 2 semesters yet, please apply in January! GPA Requirement – 2.50 Cumulative GPA at time of application Must be in good standing with the University – as far as student conduct and academic conduct. Housing rent must be paid and student must be current on rent

Value of discount: $288 - $387/month Meal Plan Scholarship for Bronze Value: $330/month** No meal plan Compensated only when University is open – adjusted for partial work months & holidays ** Based on 10 months of employment 2017-2018 benefits have not yet been decided 2015-16 Benefits Residence Halls: RA in Brazos who is from Texas – package is valued at approximately $934 in a month where there are no holidays (October) RA in Lipscomb South who is from Oklahoma - package is valued at approximately $1853 in a month where there are no holidays (October) RA in Arlington Hall who is an international student – package is valued at approximately $1934 in a month where there are no holidays (October) RA in Vandergriff Hall who is from Texas - package is valued at approximately $1110 in a month where there are no holidays (October) UTA Apartments: RA in Maple Square – package is valued at approximately $845 in a month where there are no holidays (October) RA in Timber Brook - package is valued at approximately $999 in a month where there are no holidays (October)

Apartments Residence Halls Employment dates Through May 16, 2018 * May work holidays/breaks Through May 15, 2018 Additional responsibilities Newsletters Cleaning inspections Community walks Door decs Floor/ramp meetings Front desk shift On Call Shifts Varies per community. At least 1 Primary and in some communities 1 Secondary as well per shift 1-2 RAs on call per night, depending on community. Rounds 3 times per week (Thursday-Sunday) – East & West Campus Nightly – HOP 2 times per night Other Plan events Weekly staff meetings / one-on-one meetings Know your community and residents; visibility Committee participation Bulletin boards
