Initial Licensure programs at JMU Birth- 3rd Grade Inclusive Early Childhood Education – 5 year PreK-6th Elementary – 5 year 6-8 Middle School – 5 yr 6-12 Secondary – 5 yr Special Education K-12 and ECED – 5 yr Art – 4 yr Music – 4 yr Physical and Health Education – 5 yr These are the initial licensure programs that we offer at JMU. The Program of Study General Education – 43 hrs Major in Interdisciplinary Liberal Studies 15 more core hrs 21 hrs in concentration (Humanities & Social Sciences or Math, Science, & Technology Licensure program 48 hrs IECE + 30 hrs at graduate level 33 hrs ELED + 31 hrs at graduate level

Elementary Education Pre-professional coursework Undergraduate Note: Starting fall 2015, ELED students need to pass EXED 200 prior to taking their 400 level ELED courses.
