As a leader in a school district or at a partner University, what would you identify as the key results of your University/School District collaboration around issues of principal preparation? What positive impact has the existence of the PLC and the opportunity to hold conversations with districts and institutions around the country had on principal preparation and performance in your experience? Tricia will start – Fern or Jodi and Bill re : question one Florida – universities do not do principal prep that is level 2 Question # 2 – Jennifer – can discuss this - all will jump

How do you measure changes that have occurred as a result of your partnerships, the PLC and the opportunity to interact across educational levels and with colleagues around the country? How have these initiatives impacted the preparation programs at partner universities? How has the new focus at the university with the advent of new standards and your partnership, impacted the district as you prepare or assist in the preparation of principals and district leaders? Fern will start this – re resurrected program w/ Wallace then – partnership question – Bill or Joyce –shifting nature of programs as a result of partnerships Re PLC – what do we already know and what is the national conversation? Question 2 – Tricia – district perspective Question – Florida has it’s own standards - Bill – or hybrid standards –how is this negotiated? Jennifer – spent time looking at nat”l standards and evaluation of ILD.

How did you discuss, vet and implement this across educational venues? What is the single best/most impactful decision implemented in your educational venue to improve leadership? How did you discuss, vet and implement this across educational venues? Tricia – will start Jennifer can add to this Jodi – Saint Leo perspective and USF chime in and fill gaps

How have the actions in your university principal and leadership preparation programs impacted teacher performance and student learning? How do you know? At the district level, how have the partnership and changes in your activities as well as the university approach and communication impacted teacher performance and student learning? Bill speak to MA level – GCP – race to top and other partnerships – full time admin interns Following initial placement in what kinds of school Tricia – qualitative data – impact of coaches on principal practice….we are getting to that point Bill – community school – climate change and teacher retention –case studies ???

Are there data to demonstrate these changes, whether anecdotal, qualitative, and/or quantitative? How do you share these? With Whom? What has been the impact of these partnerships been in terms of universities and programs between and within universities? Amazing stories re climate data and working conditions – amazing gains (Tricia) and climate survey data Improvement in % of h.s. grads. – culture shifted! Twitter and social media Bill – chapter written/ doc students doing research – Fern series of books on school partnerships EDS cohort project or research? USF capstone project? Shared back with district leaders

A final question:     How will you know when you are successful in your efforts to improve the role and skills of principals and principals themselves? Tricia - When not one student is not successful When every student graduates w/ a successful teacher Bill – screening data from district, we know who is successful etc. getting feedback look on various aspects over time
