DETERMINING TEAMS,POSITIONS AND PLAYING TIME There will be a Division I team and a Division II team. The Division I team is the top team. The coaching staff will continue to evaluate our athletes on a weekly basis to determine if they should be on the DI or DII team. There may be an opportunity to move an athlete up or down based on an individuals needs, grades and improvement level. We give our athletes opportunity to try out at the position they want. Coaches then determine if that position is best for the athlete and the team. If the staff feels that the move could help the team at another position then the athlete will be moved accordingly. According to the LISD Athletic Handbook each athlete will play in every game. However playing time will be determined in practice, games and to the coaches discretion. It is preferred that the athlete contact the coaching staff in regards to needed improvement or more playing time.

MISSING PRACTICE If an athlete gets sick or hurt the coaching staff ask that you send a note or email about his condition. A doctor’s note is required if the athlete is to miss for an extended period of time.

ELIGIBILITY An athlete that fails a class at the end of each six weeks grading period will become ineligible to play in game competition for three weeks. During this time he is expected to participate in all practices. If at the end of the three week period all grades are passing, he will be allowed to compete on the date specified by the TEA/UIL Eligibility Calendar.

If you have any questions please call the District’s Insurance Office at 469-948-8104.

BUS Team travel will be accomplished in school buses. Parents are allowed to take their son home from a sporting event only if they sign out with a coach. Parents will not be allowed to take home athletes that are not their child. Athletes should maintain proper levels of conduct on the bus.

LISD FAN BEHAVIOR

Lakeview Parent Code Of Conduct Lakeview Parent/Guardian Code of Conduct Your role with the athletes * Serve as role models for our players, talking politely and acting courteously toward coaches, officials, other parents, opposing team parents and spectators at all athletic events. * Model good sportsmanship and acknowledge the efforts of team members and opponents. * Encourage your athlete and his teammates with positive statements, even when mistakes are made. * Support the team regardless of how much or how little your athlete plays or what the won-loss record is. * When problems or questions arise, help the players develop self-advocacy by having them talk to coaches. * Help the athlete to always be punctual and to balance academics and athletics. * Encourage the athlete to try out for/play as many different sports as possible. * Remind the athlete that athletics is hard work, but that it is also meant to be fun. Your role with the coaches *Understand and endorse the purpose of our program: to help boys become hard-working and responsible young men who will lead and be role models. *Refrain from verbal or written communication with coaches that is either attacking or disrespectful in nature. . *After giving the athlete and coaches a chance, work with all involved to resolve any issues in a calm and respectful nature with the athlete’s and team’s best interest at the core of the resolution. *Make sure your athlete is at practice on time and picked up from practice and games on time. *Support the coaches by applauding behavior in your athlete and his teammates that demonstrates characteristics of integrity, empathy, sacrifice and responsibility. *Respect the fact that all personnel/positional decisions are made at the coaching staff’s discretion. *Aid the coaches in teaching the athlete about effort and hard work and in their journey to become men. *Keep track of the practice/game schedules and watch for any changes. *Remember it is not all about winning and cheer loud for the Leopards win, lose or draw!
