Course Structure 4 x 20 level 7 credit modules: Research Methods in Healthcare Taking Research Forward in Health and Social Care Research Ethics and Governance in the NHS and Social Care Sector – attendance only 2 optional modules, one from prescribed list and one free choice module from programme (over 100 modules)

Staff Research Areas

Funding Contract drawn up between UoB and employer NIHR (via UoB) will pay salary (with oncosts & London weighting) 3 months in arrears and course fees for 12 or 24 months (no longer) – course 6 yrs FULL TIME for 12 months studying 5 days a week for 12 months or PART TIME for 24 months studying 2.5 days per week Other costs: travel and accommodation for module attendance; modules run either on Darley Road campus, Eastbourne or Falmer campus, Brighton costs associated with your research study. BENCH FEES.

Application submission Online application including: A signed employer agreement form: explain the research infrastructure of the organisation that will help support the applicant during the MRes Clinical Research course Copies of Certification of academic qualifications Copy of Professional Registration giving Licence to Practice One digital passport sized photo (electronic) 2 references: manager and academic If first language is not English, enclose copy of English as a Foreign Language certificate A research proposal (500 words)

Entry requirements first or upper second class honours Bachelor (or MPharm for pharmacists) degree at least one year of clinical practice experience Evidence of study within last 5years at level 6 working in a NHS Trust or practice setting in England that receives its funding, in whole or part, from the Department of Health/NHS registered with HCPC/NMC / General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and have licence to practise in the UK For candidates whose first language is not English (if not completed a UK degree within 3 years) the minimum standard of English competence accepted is equivalent to an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Score of 7 overall and 6.5 in writing or a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOFEL) Score of 250 for the Computerised Test or 600 for the paper test

Clinical Advisor Identify a potential clinical advisor: knowledge of local policies, procedures and R & D dpt able to advise on your proposed project Perhaps specific knowledge of your clinical area support in recruitment and liaison with clinical setting Role will be to help you: develop your research understanding refine the clinically focused research question manage and deliver research in practice disseminate and utilise research in practice Discuss your progress with academic supervisor and course leader, as appropriate Complete a progress review form half way and at end of course Minimum of 10 and max 20 hours support. No payment. Include as author in publication
