Unit 13 Gas Laws Test Review The Ladder Game

Rules: Pick one question to do from the set (1 question per team member) Once you finish your question, pass your paper back to your teammate for them to pick a question. If you are the last person in the row, you must check your team’s work. When you are finished, run your paper back to the front!

Round 1 What does it mean for two variables to be inversely related? What is an example of two variables from this unit which are inversely related? What does STP stand for? What are the two values associated with STP?

Round 2: Gas Law Problems A sample of gas has an initial pressure of 2.5 atm and a volume of 15 mL. What would the pressure be when the volume is 30 mL? Convert 1.75 atm to kPa and mm Hg. (2 answers needed!) At 12°C, a balloon has a volume of 1.20 L. What is the volume of the balloon at 25°C? A sealed canister is originally at 150 kPa and 25°C. If this canister is stored at 47°C, what would the new pressure inside the canister be?

Round 3: Gas Law Problems Convert 156 mL to liters. A bubble has a volume of 0.13 mL at 15 atm. What is the volume of the bubble at 994 kPa of pressure? A sample of gas has a volume of 150 mL at 1.23 atm and 25°C. What is the pressure of the gas (in mmHg) at a volume of 75 mL and a temperature of 35°C? Convert 0.234 atm to mmHg.

Round 4: Ideal Gas Law What is the ideal gas law formula? A 0.245 mol sample of gas has a volume of 2.1 L at 298 K. What is the pressure of the gas under these conditions? How many moles are in a 115 mL sample of oxygen gas at 23°C and 1.13 atm. What units are required for pressure, volume, and temperature when using the ideal gas law?

Round 5: Ideal Gas Law What volume will a 1.45 mol sample of gas take up at a pressure of 440 mmHg and a temperature of 37°C? What is the molar mass of H2S? At what temperature will 12.2 grams of O2 gas be at a volume of 345 mL and a pressure of 0.765 atm? How many grams are in a 2 L sample of CO2 gas at 35°C and 0.432 atm?
