2017-2018 Hall County Academic Planning guide includes all courses offered in Hall County schools.

Graduation Requirements and Promotion 2017-2018 Planning Guide Graduation Requirements and Promotion Graduation requirements are specific to the year a student first enters the 9th grade. For the 2017-2018 school year the number of units required is graduate will continue to be 23. It is not just any 23 credits. We will discuss specific courses needed shortly. (Most of our students graduate with more than 23 credits.) Completion of these requirements does not necessarily qualify students for the HOPE Scholarship Program or college admission. Students must pass 6 units out of 7 to be promoted to 10th grade.

Questions/Answers after the program “My student has 6 credits from middle school. Will you consider him a Sophomore next year or a Freshman?” This is an excellent question. We want to keep our first time Freshman as Freshman in our Academy. HOWEVER, that does mean that your student needs to consider ways to make his/her Junior and Senior years meaningful and be deliberate in class choices. Ex. He or she would need to push themselves to more rigorous work like AP courses and possibly consider MOWR for their Senior year and possibly Junior year for a few classes as well. “Will my student have classes with upper classmen?” While we do try to keep our Freshman classes “pure” and only with other Academy students…there might be a time when an upper classman might be in the same class. It does happen with Elective courses and they will intermingle during lunch as well. “My child’s 8th grade teacher recommended this class, but I do not want them to take it…what do I do?” Please call Mrs. Rider 7705369921 ext 7133, Mrs. Cumiskey 7705369921 ext. 7132 or Mrs. Barrett 7705369921 ext 7130 (or email either: Heidi.rider@hallco.org , Leigh.Cumiskey@hallco.org or Heather.Barrett@hallco.org )and discuss this with them. If you already put it on the registration form…we will work with you as much as possible.
