Monitor Training Spring 2017 Assessments

Purpose of Monitoring Ensure standardized testing across the district Administer tests in a secure manner Preserve the integrity of the tests Safeguard the validity of the test results for schools and students

Stanford Achievement Test - Tenth Edition (SAT-10) All Kindergarten, Grade 1 and Grade 2 students will test Subtests to be administered: SAT-10 Untimed Monday, March 27 Tuesday, March 28 Wednesday, March 29 Thursday, March 30 Friday March 31 Sentence Reading: Kindergarten Reading Comprehension: Grade 1 and 2 Mathematics: Kindergarten Mathematics Problem Solving: Make up Testing No Testing

Administering the SAT-10 Sentence Reading (K): Partially dictated to students Reading Comprehension (1 and 2) Students must work independently. Mathematics (K) and Mathematics: Problem Solving (1 and 2) Questions will be dictated to students District paper rulers should be provided as follows: Kindergarten Sentence Reading: As a marker Mathematics: As a marker Grade 1 Reading Comprehension: As a marker Mathematics: Problem Solving: Required to solve problems Grade 2

Florida Standards Assessments (FSA) ELA Writing FSA English/Language Arts Writing (Grades 4-10) Grades 4-7 are paper-based test (PBT) Grades 8-10 are computer-based test (CBT)* One 120 minute session (with a scheduled stretch break at 60 minutes) *Paper-based versions are available for students with documented accommodations only.

Florida Standards Assessments (FSA) ELA Reading FSA English/Language Arts Reading (Grades 3-10) Grades 3 is PBT Grades 4-10 are CBT* Grades 3-5: Two 80 minute sessions over 2 days Grades 6-8: Two 85 minute sessions over 2 days Grades 9-10: Two 90 minute sessions over 2 days Grade 3 Only: Packages of secure materials with security numbers may be opened five (5) days before testing, NO EARLIER. *Paper-based versions are available for students with documented accommodations only.

Florida Standards Assessments (FSA) Mathematics FSA Mathematics (Grades 3-8) Grades 3 – 8 are CBT* Grades 3-5: Two 80 minute sessions, over two days Grades 6-8: Three 60 minute sessions, over two days Session 1 on Day 1 and Sessions 2 and 3 on Day 2 *Paper-based versions are available for students with documented accommodations only.

Florida Standards Assessments (FSA) ELA Writing and Reading Retake FSA English/Language Arts Writing Retake (CBT)* Retained Grade 10 and Grades 11-AD One 120 minute session (with a scheduled stretch break at 60 minutes) FSA English/Language Arts Reading Retake (CBT)* Two 90-minute sessions over 2 days Any student who has not completed the ELA Writing Retake or ELA Reading Retake session by the end of the allotted time may continue working; however, each session may last no longer than half the length of a typical school day. *Paper-based versions are available for students with documented accommodations only.

Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT 2.0) Retake FCAT 2.0 Reading Retake (CBT*) Retained Grade 10 and Grades 11-AD Reading Retake: Two sessions, over 2 days. Students may have up to half the length of a typical school day to complete the test each day. *Paper-based versions are available for students with documented accommodations only.

Florida Standards Assessments (FSA) Algebra 1 Retake EOC FSA Algebra 1 Retake EOC (CBT)* Students who still need to pass the FSA Algebra 1 EOC for graduation K-8 centers, middle, high schools, and adults Two sessions, over 2 days Students may have up to half the length of a typical school day to complete the test each day. *Paper-based versions are available for students with documented accommodations only.

Next Generation Sunshine State Standards (NGSSS) Algebra 1 Retake EOC NGSSS Algebra 1 Retake EOC (CBT)* Students who still need to pass the NGSSS Algebra 1 EOC for graduation High schools and adult centers One 160-minute session Any student not finished by the end of the 160 minutes may continue working; but testing must be completed within the same school day. *Paper-based versions are available for students with documented accommodations only.

Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT 2.0) Science FCAT 2.0 Science (Grades 5 and 8) Grade 5: Two 80 minute sessions over 2 days Grade 8: Two 80 minute sessions in 1 day Note: Packages of secure materials with security numbers may be opened five (5) days before testing, NO EARLIER.

End-of-Course Assessments FSA EOC (CBT) Algebra 1 (first time testers), Geometry, and Algebra 2 FSA EOCs are administered in two 90 minute sessions over 2 days. Any student not finished by the end of each 90-minute session may continue working through half the length of a typical school day. NGSSS EOC (CBT) Biology 1, Civics, and US History NGSSS EOCs are administered in one 160-minute session with a 10 minute break after the first 80 minutes. Students may be dismissed after the first 80 minutes during the10 minute break, as they complete the test. Any student not finished by the end of the 160 minutes may continue working; however, testing must be completed within the same school day.

All secured materials are accounted for Limited access to storage room

Monitoring Procedures, cont. Test Session Monitoring Randomly select a classroom to observe Sign the security log when you arrive and leave the room Plan to remain in the test session for the full allotted time Some students are allowed extended time. Be in place when testing begins, then exit unobtrusively after testing is well underway.

What To Observe: Preparations Preparations for the Assessment Visual cues must be covered or removed Signs are posted (e.g., Do Not Disturb, Session Number, Electronic Devices) Sufficient space between students (at least 3 feet) Test administrator to student ratio (1:25) for both PBT and CBT Roster of students assigned to the room

What To Observe: Paper-Based Testing (PBT) During the Assessment (paper-based test) All testing signs are posted Test materials must be handed to students individually Documentation of security numbers assigned to students A record of attendance is maintained Test materials for absent students are kept in a secure area in the room Appropriate testing environment is maintained

What To Observe: Computer-Based Testing (CBT) During the Assessment (computer-based testing) Visual-barriers are installed Sufficient work space for Planning Sheets, CBT Worksheets, CBT Work Folders, and Reading/Writing Passage Booklets Student Tickets, Seal Codes (FCAT 2.0 Reading Retake only), and test materials must be handed to students individually A record of attendance is maintained Tickets and test materials for absent students are kept in a secure area in the room Appropriate testing environment is maintained

What To Observe: General During the Assessment The test schedule is followed with the allotted time The starting and ending times are displayed on the board Electronic devices are not within arm’s reach Security Logs are maintained at all times Appropriate test administration manual is being used for the test being administered Script is read verbatim Test administrators and proctors actively monitor testing

What To Observe: Conclusion Concluding the Assessment Test materials are collected individually from students Students are not permitted to leave until all materials are collected and verified Test materials and documentation are immediately returned to the school assessment coordinator

Reporting Irregularities Any concern regarding a testing irregularity, breach of test security, or problem with secure testing materials must be reported immediately to Student Assessment and Educational Testing (SAET) at 305-995-7520. You should NOT “debrief” with school staff.
