Agenda 4-20mA / HART RS485 / Modbus GPRS 3DLinkPro / Modem Wizard TCP/IP DeltaV Connection Barriers / Isolators for Explosive environment

Connection Methods The 3D Solids Scanner can be connected to different systems for different purposes 4-20mA A method of level/volume indication to a PLC or DCS system HART Using existing 4-20mA connection to transfer more data and allow a PC software to connect to a remote device RS485 A serial, 2-wire, multidrop (“Daisy Chain”) communication protocol, works in a mode of one master-many slaves, with APM it is limited up to 64 scanners Modbus RTU Type of communication that utilizes the RS485 physical infrastructure

Connection Methods TCP/IP Using a compatible RS485 to TCP/IP convertor, the 3D Solids Scanners can be connected to a local area network and be monitored by any computer connected to that network APM recommends the use of BF-430 manufactured by CHIYU Connecting the 3D Solids Scanner requires know-how and understanding of many terms and how they integrate together

4-20mA The 3D Solids Scanner outputs an active 4-20mA The Volume in percentage as defined by the full and empty calibration levels The 4-20mA requires connection of a passive device on the other side for proper performance The 3D Solids Scanner can be configured to output 4-20mA  0%-100% or 20-4mA  0%-100% For testing purposes, the 3D Solids Scanner can simulate any current level between 4mA to 20mA in resolution of 0.01mA

4-20mA + HART The 3D Solids Scanner can be controlled via the 3D Vision using the 4-20mA output A MicroLink HART modem is recommended for use with the 3D Solids Scanner HART Baud rate is 1.2kbps Max cable distance: 3km (2miles) View only – not fully HART compliant Connection example of 4-20mA + HART

Multiple Scanners Using 4-20ma Output Only Point to Point Connection

RS-485 Serial communication method One device is a master All other devices are listening and replying on demand Each node on the bus has a unique address (polling address) between 00 to 63 Masters can be connected on the RS-485 bus using a communication converter, such as GSM modem, TCP/IP converter, USB, RS-232, etc. Cable requirements: Shielded, Twisted-pair, 120 Ohm impedance

RS-485 Resistors must be at the far ends of the RS-485 bus When two or more power supplies are in use, it is recommended to use mutual ground Cable grounding shield must be connected to the ground on one end of the cable Max Cable distance: <1000m (~4000 ft.)

Daisy Chain connection up to 64 scanners

GPRS using 3DLinkPro Using 3DLinkPro to convert the RS485 data into TCP/IP packet and transfer it over GSM network SIM card must be activated and compatible with GPRS, and allow sending and receiving of SMS messages Recommended data quota/plan for at least 150MB/month in constant connection Before using the 3DLinkPro it is advised to test the SIM card with the 3DLinkPro in-house before shipping (using the APM Modem Wizard) SIM #, APN name must be obtained Disable any PIN code / Username and Password Preferable to have a fixed IP for the SIM card Note: one of the scanners must have polling address 00

GPRS Topology

GPRS using 3DLinkPro Steps for connecting the 3D Solids Scanner to the 3D Vision: Open the 3D Vision and start a communication to the specified phone number using GPRS option Send SMS to the 3DLinkPro: e.g.: CALLAPM,212.235.27.113,7040,internet, Wait for connection Note: In order to make the connection, in the local network, a port forwarding option must be activated to the computer’s local IP Address

3DLinkPro –Connection

Modem Wizard Fill required fields under “Modem Details” Press “Analyze!” Results appear in “Analyzed Info” If all fields are filled, communication is ok and ready for connection

TCP/IP Connection It is possible to convert the RS485 serial bus to a TCP packet and transfer it over Local Area Network (LAN) using a compatible device APM recommends to use model BF-430 manufactured by CHIYU

TCP/IP Setup example

TCP/IP Important notes: The BF-430 must be assigned with a static IP Address Local Firewall on the computer must be configured accordingly APM strongly recommends to advise the local IT personnel of the specific configuration or privileges that might be needed to configure the BF-430

Modbus (RTU) RS485 Serial communication method designed for industrial devices for controlling and monitoring Using standard Modbus commands the measure data can be received by the connected controller Note: When using Modbus (via the RS485) it is possible to derive the registers in parallel to the 3D Vision connection Relevant Registers: 40001 to 40026

Connection to DeltaV Unable to use existing 3D MultiVision software Fastest value update rate; approximately every 10 seconds Least complex setup; connection is directly to DeltaV Serial card

Connection via VIM Card through 3D MultiVision Server Values update slower than previous configuration; approximately every 45 seconds 3D MultiVision Server must be running for DeltaV to read values Any configuration changes to DeltaV or VIMNet require a server restart Able to use 3D MultiVision Server & Client simultaneously with DeltaV

Explosive Installations ATEX II 1/2D Ex iaD/ibD 20/21 T110C FM CL I,II Div I GP CDEFG NEPSI For explosive areas, the customer is responsible to install the scanner according to the local guidelines
