End of KS1 Assessments 2016

Grammar, punctuation and spelling. What is assessed? Reading. Grammar, punctuation and spelling. Writing will be assessed using Teacher Assessment. Maths

Reading: Paper 1: Booklet containing text and questions Reading: Paper 1: Booklet containing text and questions. Paper 2: 1 reading booklet and 1 answer booklet. Grammar, punctuation and spelling: Paper 1: Spelling Paper 2: Questions Maths: Paper 1: Arithmetic Paper 2: Reasoning

How are the tests marked? New tests and mark schemes each year. Marked by the teacher in 2016. Scaled score - available in June 2016. You will be told your child's raw score (actual score), scaled score (100 being the expected standard) and whether they have reached the national standard for that subject.

Reading Paper 1: A reading booklet that integrates the reading text and answer booklet (lower demand) which carries 20 marks. (30 mins) Paper 2: A reading booklet with separate answer booklet (higher demand) which carries 20 marks. (40 mins) Pupils must be entered for both papers. 100% focus on comprehension (retrieving information and inference) 2 styles of questions – select 1 or 2 from a choice or write own answer.

Mark scheme The blackbird said: “You and I are at war.” How do you know that the king was not worried by this? Award 1 mark for reference to the king laughing, e.g. when he said it the king laughed. he thought it was funny. Do not accept answers that do not mention the king laughing – we only know he isn’t worried as he laughs.

Days of the week and months of the year must have a capital letter or the mark cannot be awarded. If an apostrophe has been used unnecessarily or incorrectly the mark cannot be awarded. do’nt If a word has been divided into component parts the mark cannot be awarded e.g. rain bow

Spelling – correct use of spelling patterns, correct spelling of tricky words, correct use of capital letters, correct use of apostrophes. Noun phrases – e.g. golden, shiny castle
