Have balance: school, activities, family, friends, rest, exercise Use resources: teachers, ARC, Math Lab, Writing Lab, NHS tutoring… Make healthy decisions: utilize healthy coping skills Your counselors are here to help! Make an appointment in the Guidance & Counseling Office.

Common Factors of SUCCESSFUL HHS Students Possess a high level of self-knowledge Engage in activities that reflect their interests and passions Take positive risks that expose them to personal growth opportunities – step out of one’s comfort zone Surround themselves with people that have similar interests and aptitudes Challenge themselves in and out of the classroom

Thoughts from HHS Graduates “Take challenging courses during high school.” “Don’t take high school for granted.” “If I could go back to high school I would take more AP classes and actually study.” “Learn to read your textbooks.” “Develop good study habits.” “One of the most difficult parts of college is time management.” “Don’t slack off. This is the home page – what you see first after logging in This is the home page – what you see first after logging in. On the left hand side are “pages” and “links”. In the middle you will see in the blue box “what’s new” and the welcome message. On the right side is where you can check messages, find a specific document from the document library, contact your counselor and then “updates” which are just points of interest. There are 5 different tabs at the top then for you to use – Courses, Colleges, Careers, About Me, and My Planner

This is the “colleges” tab This is the “colleges” tab. Here you can find a wealth of information about colleges by doing college searches, seeing where HHS students have applied and attended most and relevant data associated with that. It is never too early to start looking at your options.

This is the “careers” tab This is the “careers” tab. You can explore a variety of career options in the “explore careers and clusters”. You can find information in here about all kinds of different careers and then link those to potential college majors and to more information about colleges that have those majors. Once you do some exploring you can save these and go back to them any time in your “favorite careers and clusters”
