In Brad Feld’s book Startup Communities he points out four key ingredients for an entrepreneurial community to a successful:   Entrepreneurs must lead the startup community. The leaders must have a long-term commitment. The startup community must be inclusive of anyone who wants to patriate in it. The startup community must have continual actives that engage the entrepreneurial stack.

The Kentucky Angel Network (KYAN) is comprised of “accredited investors” under SEC rules. Self certification via KYAN membership application. No fee to join the KYAN KYAN meets the last Tuesday of every month via the Go To Meeting online platform

Presenting companies must meet the following criteria to be considered for presentation at a monthly meeting: The company must be Kentucky based; meaning at least 51% of its payroll and property resides within the state. The company must have a negotiated term sheet and lead investor who is willing to share due diligence with other potential investors. The company must be a client of the statewide Innovation Network and have the sponsorship of an Innovation Office Director.

KY Angels Network Portfolio Companies Presenters Since January 2014 KY Angel network has heard 27 company presentations from across the state. 22 of these companies have received follow-up interest from Network investors Approximately 33% of these companies have received additional investment of close to approximately $1M. www.kyangels.net
