Income, Poverty & Inequality Mean 💰/month Headcount % Poverty gap % Gini Index 2009 237.07 21.60 6.65 60.97 2003 211.34 31.46 10.17 63.32 1993 196.41 52.87 27.77 n.a Poverty has been decreasing between 1993-2009 The income level has been increasing in Namibia and at the same time inequality has been decreasing.

Overview Namibia has enjoyned a sustained period of strong growth Political stability is one reason for economic growth and poverty reduction Still Namibia remains one of the most unequal countries in the world with a high gini coeffient All Namibias major production sectors (mining, tourism, livestock and meat production, and fisheries ) are vulnerable to external economic and ecological shocks.
