With these virtual patients, you will practice your interviewing, examination, documentation, and critical thinking skills. Shadow Health will provide you immediate feedback on your performance. Your instructor will provide grading rubrics to interpret this feedback on your performance. We will be accessing and completing Shadow Health assignments throughout the semester.

Register for an account Use laptop or desktop computer Shadow Health is not currently supported on mobile platforms Open your Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Safari web browser. Visit http://shadowhealth.com/ and click Sign Up on the upper right hand side of the screen. Use the most up-to-date course PIN that has already been provided in the syllabus or LMS. Instructor View - Course Overview We recommend walking students through how at least one assignment will be graded. Shadow Health has example student work you can use for this purpose. Navigate to the Training Course to pull up example student work. Have your grading rubric, if applicable, handy and grade an example student attempt with this rubric in class.

Remember to keep in mind... Virtual patients understand vast number of questions, over 140,000 and is the best conversation engine on the market but... You have to be very specific with questions Sometimes you will need to rephrase your question to get the answer you need Digital patients don’t have a working memory. Avoid unclear pronouns, as these can confuse digital patients.

Let’s meet Tina Jones! We suggest pulling up an assignment in class to introduce your students to Tina Jones. You may need to download and install the Unity Web Player if you have not already done so on your classroom computer. This is a free download that allows you to manipulate the 3D environment in which our patients live. Shadow Health may prompt you to download the Unity Web Player, and will provide instructions to do so.
