This is what Happens when Mom’s away

There is a true need for us to re-examine the character of our heavenly father, and what it means to be His child

Our Heavenly Father’s character 1. Our Father provides our needs

Matthew 6:25-27 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap away in barns, and yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?”

Our Heavenly Father’s character 1. Our Father provides our needs 2. Our Father gives us wisdom

James 1:5 “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.”

Our Heavenly Father’s character 1. Our Father provides our needs 2. Our Father gives us wisdom 3. Our Father lovingly corrects us

Hebrews 12:5-6 “And have you forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons? “My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor be weary when reproved by him. For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives.”

Our Heavenly Father’s character 1. Our Father provides our needs 2. Our Father gives us wisdom 3. Our Father lovingly corrects us 4. Our Father welcomes us home

Luke 15:11-24 And he said, “There was a man who had two sons.  And the younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the share of property that is coming to me.’ And he divided his property between them. Not many days later, the younger son gathered all he had and took a journey into a far country, and there he squandered his property in reckless living.

Luke 15:11-24 And when he had spent everything, a severe famine arose in that country, and he began to be in need. So he went and hired himself out to one of the citizens of that country, who sent him into his fields to feed pigs. And he was longing to be fed with the pods that the pigs ate, and no one gave him anything.

Luke 15:11-24  “But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father's hired servants have more than enough bread, but I perish here with hunger!  I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you.  I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Treat me as one of your hired servants.”’  And he arose and came to his father.

Luke 15:11-24 But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him.  And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’

Luke 15:11-24 But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring quickly the best robe, and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet. And bring the fattened calf and kill it, and let us eat and celebrate. For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.’ And they began to celebrate.”

Living as His children

Romans 8:15 “The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”

Spirit of Fear vs Spirit of Sonship

Spirit of Fear vs Spirit of Sonship FEAR OF IDENTITY I question and doubt myself regularly. I struggle with finding self-worth. ASSURANCE OF IDENTITY I know who I am in Christ. I belong to MY FATHER, Father God, and He loves me unconditionally and values me.

Spirit of Fear vs Spirit of Sonship FEAR OF PROVISION I have tremendous anxiety that I will not be able to make ends meet financially and that the things I need in life might not happen ASSURANCE OF PROVISION I know that MY FATHER, Father God, will take care of me and will provide all of my needs even when times get tough.

Spirit of Fear vs Spirit of Sonship FEAR OF ACCEPTANCE I fear that people will look down on me or that they won’t like me or want to be around me. I fear being alone and having no one to count on ASSURANCE OF ACCEPTANCE I know that MY FATHER, Father God, knows everything about me and loves me know matter what. I know that I will never be alone because He will never leave me, nor forsake me.

The SIGNS of a life controlled by the SPIRIT OF FEAR are: ANXIETY WORRY STRESS LACK OF PEACE

The SIGNS of a life resting in the SPIRIT OF SONSHIP are: LOVE JOY FREEDOM PEACE
