Martial Haeffelin (on behalf of J-F. Doussin) CNRS / IPSL CNRS Report Atmospheric Composition Observing Systems, and Opportunities at the French and European Level Martial Haeffelin (on behalf of J-F. Doussin) CNRS / IPSL

OUTLINE NDACC : a highly important network for CNRS Research Infrastructures: a tool/opportunity to support long- term atmospheric observations (ACTRIS-FR) AERIS: the French integrated atmospheric data & services center (NDACC data and services) NDACC services in ACTRIS-RI

1. High-level of CNRS Engagement in support of NDACC Network SAOZ Network OHP Présentation de la carte du NDACC avec la localisation des stations françaises à l’OHP, l’OPAR et DDU plus les sites du réseau de spectromètres UV-visible SAOZ OPAR DDU

Gérard Mégie Geophysical Station Haute-Provence Observatory (44°N, 5,7°E, 650m) Instruments for atmospheric monitoring NDACC instruments running since 1991: - 4 lidars: O3, temperature, aerosols, water vapor, - O3, NO2, BrO, UV spectrometers - Ozonosondes + meteorological sondes Other Networks - O3, CO in situ - Aeronet sunphotometer (Aerosols) Research instruments - Doppler Wind lidar - Michelson EPIS (wind 80 km) - Pyranometers - Infrasound sensors BrO: hypobromite used as a germicide and antiparasitic in both industrial applications, and in the immune system Station site http://sosgm.obs.uvsq.fr

Evidence of long-term support 22-year series of stratospheric aerosol observations using two independent lidars at OHP Stratospheric Aerosol Optical Depth 17-30 km (sAOD1730) @ 532 nm Intercomparison of sAOD from OHP lidars and satellites Partie haute: intercomparison de l’épaisseur optique des aérosols stratosphériques entre 17 et 30 km obtenue avec les 2 lidars température (LTA) et ozone (voie non absorbée), comparée aux instruments spatiaux GOMOS (occultation stellaire), Sage II (occultation solaire), OSIRIS (diffusion solaire au limbe ) et CALIOP (lidar) Partie basse : évolution de l’épaisseur optique vue par les lidars et les satellites avec indication des périodes affectées par des éruptions volcaniques. Excellent agreement allowing for accurate characterization of stratospheric aerosol variability and long-term change Khaykin et al., ACPD, 2016

Comparisons to previous winters (EGU & QOS, 2016) O3 loss estimation with SAOZ Comparisons to previous winters (EGU & QOS, 2016) O3 loss (%) Estimation de la destruction d’ozone (colonne stratosphérique) chaque hiver déterminée à partir des spectromètres SAOZ. Les mesures sont comparées au modèle LMDZ-Reprobus avec chimie désactivée pour estimer la destruction. Large ozone loss interannual variability, dependent on vortex duration 2016: third largest loss since 1994 2011: record 38% 1996: 30%

Mesures du lidar vapeur d’eau du Maïdo montrant que le lidar peut atteindre la basse stratosphère à condition d’intégrer suffisamment longtemps.
