Theia Capacity Building actions Objectives: Building up EO data processing capacity for forest monitoring: Applied training; Supply and installation of computer equipment for archiving and processing of remote sensing data Examples of Fundamentals of remote sensing Acquisition and/or download of images; QGIS environment: software implementation and some applications; Image classification by visual interpretation; Unsupervised classification under ENVI; Analysis and classification of satellite images; Using the Garmin 64S GPS receiver for developing land-use maps; Geographic data: modeling and creation of diagrams; Use of free object-oriented classification software for forest monitoring Duration: from 1 week to 2,5 weeks depending of the module Object-based clasification; Sentinel2 image http://www.geoforafri.org/index.php/composantes/renforcement-de-capacites/formations

AUF AUF (Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie) supports its members in the creation of training courses and distance-learning such as MOOCs in French speaking countries

AUF Formations francophones Supports at least 3 masters in Earth Observation: Douala, master IASIG Abidjan, master CURAT Ngaoundéré, master GAGER Until recently the « Reseau télédétection » (former AUF) was organizing many training courses using its network of experts but is presently lacking funding.  Important potential resource to provide training in EO
