Knowing God’s Holiness Isaiah 6:1-8 – “In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory. 4 And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke. Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the

Knowing God’s Holiness midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts. Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged. Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.”

Knowing God’s Holiness What does it mean that God is Holy? - God is absolutely separate from and exalted above all His creatures - It denotes the perfection of God and all that He is - It is an expression of His nature, which is Holy Revelation 4:8 – “And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord, God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.”

Knowing God’s Holiness I. There is a separation between God and the sinner Isaiah 59:2 – “But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that He will not hear.”

Knowing God’s Holiness I. There is a separation between God and the sinner Habakkuk 1:13 – “Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look upon iniquity.”

Knowing God’s Holiness I. There is a separation between God and the sinner - Not only is the sinner estranged from God, but God is estranged from the sinner Roman 5:12 – “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.”

Knowing God’s Holiness I. There is a separation between God and the sinner - Not only is the sinner estranged from God, but God is estranged from the sinner Romans 6:23 – “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Knowing God’s Holiness I.
