ART lacks a satisfactory definition ART lacks a satisfactory definition. It is easier to describe it as the way something is done -- "the use of skill and imagination in the creation of aesthetic objects, environments, or experiences that can be shared with others" (Britannica Online) -- rather than what it is. And even this broad definition can have many exceptions.

The four aspects of all ART: Form: What does the work look like? Subject Matter: What is the work of? Context: Under what social/personal conditions was the work made? Content: What does the work mean?

Themes of ARTHS 199: Branding/Marketing and the Art Market Identity/ies Institutions Avant-Garde The Art Object and the Object of Art Challenges to the Establishment(s) Damian Hirst, For The Love of God, 2007
