Calendar – Summer Schedule Summer Band Camp: July 31 – August 4: Color Guard, Drumline, Pit, and ALL new members - 9am–4pm August 7-11: ALL members – 9am–4pm August 14-18 and August 21-25: Times TBD Parent Preview and Potluck – August 18 Practice once school starts will be announced during band camp Spirit Wear for students and parents Online ordering: August 1 – August 20 Orders delivered to BHS: By September 8 Tag Day - Saturday, August 26 (Mandatory, unless SAT)

Calendar – After School Starts After School Practices – Everyday, times will vary NOVEC Dinner – Wednesday, September 13 Haymarket Day Parade – Saturday, September 16 Home Football Games – September 15, 22 (8th Grade Night); October 13 (Homecoming), 20; November 3 (Senior Night) Competitions: Local/Regional – TBD (Saturdays in late September/October) BOA @ University of Delaware – October 7 (SAT Day!!!) JMU Parade of Champions – October 21 VBODA Marching Assessment – October 28 Marching Band Banquet – November 14 Winter Concert – December 14

Band Support Organization PURPOSE: Provide support and financial aid for the Battlefield High School bands and facilitate the purchase of equipment and other band-related materials Main Tasks/Activities Sponsor and conduct fundraising activities Coordinate Marching Band Logistics for Band Competitions/Trips/Home Football Games, Uniforms, Hospitality, Transportation, Pit Crew Manage Marching Band Finances and Major Purchases – Uniforms, Equipment and Program-Related Expenses Provide Support to other Battlefield Bands – Concert attire orders and coordinated purchases 501 (c)(3) non-profit charitable organization status, accepts tax deductible donations Proposed 2017/2018 BSO budget posted on the band website 100% Staffed by Parent Volunteers

Volunteers WE NEED YOUR HELP! Volunteer opportunities include: Hospitality, Transportation, Chaperones at home football games and competitions/parades, Uniforms, Fundraising, and Pit Crew Committees - ALL committees/events need help! Attend BSO Meetings – meetings typically held at 6:30pm the 1st Monday of each month in the band room TAG Day – Most important fundraiser of the year! (Saturday, August 26) -Students go door to door in local neighborhoods asking for donations to help support the band. Student attendance is mandatory. Parents needed as drivers and to help coordinate TAG Day activities. NOVEC Dinner– Second most important fundraiser of the year! (Wednesday, September 13) - Parents needed to help prepare and serve meals to NOVEC membership at Annual Meeting. Interested in helping out???? Finances and Fundraising The BSO maintains two accounts for the disbursal of funds: A working fund for all budgeted or approved expenses A reserve account for future large purchases Current balance on hand - Working fund - $48,315.10 Reserve account - $10 (New uniforms purchased in 2016) Primary Sources of Revenue – Fundraising and Band Fees Fundraising is vital in order to reach goals for the program!! Tag Day, NOVEC Dinner, Donut Sales, Yankee Candle Fundraising Program, AmazonSmile, Spirit Nights, student fees, corporate sponsorships and more!

Forms/Fees Marching Application & Signed Policy Agreement due tonight (May 8) along with $350 band fee; After tonight, the fee increases to $400 Marching fee includes: Marching uniform rental and cleaning Transportation to events Meals prior to 6 competitions Formal registration process and collection of any outstanding forms, fees, and Blue Emergency Cards – First Week of Band Camp Additional Expenses include: Marching Band gloves - $5.00/pair Marching Band shoes - $35.00/pair Color Guard shoes/show - $30.00/pair Color Guard shoes/parade - $40.00/pair Color Guard gloves - $15.00/pair Color Guard warm up suit – approx. $55.00 Meals before home football games $4.00 to $6.00 per game; $ for all games will be collected during first week of band camp Concert Band Attire and fees – more details to come when school starts

Uniforms Marchers will NOT be allowed to eat while in uniform New Marching Band Uniforms this year!!!! New rules for Uniforms!! Marchers will NOT be allowed to eat while in uniform Scheduling adjustments will be made to allow for students to eat prior to home football games Marchers will still have 3rd quarter off from playing during home football games **Please refer to policy document for more guidelines.
