Hytera DMR Introduction The leading provider of professional wireless communication equipments and solutions

Preface Analog technology has reached its peak and can not breakthrough the chief limitations including battery life, audio quality (near the edge), communication safety, Spectrum efficiency, low productivity in communication and integrated data applications. Meet Narrow banding Mandate A lot of countries from America, Europe , Asia etc. release corresponding regulations that limit the professional communication equipments working on channel bandwidth > = 25kHz .

Part One: Introduction to DMR standard

What is DMR? In 2005,ETSI released DMR standard DMR (Digital Mobile Radio) is a digital radio standard for Professional Mobile Radio (PMR) DMR is specifically targeted at systems where analogue PMR is currently applied and designed to deliver digital voice, data and other supplementary services in a simple and low cost manner, and to meet future regulatory requirements for 6.25kHz channel equivalence.

The tendency from analogue to digital Part 1 DMR target market PAMR Commercial & Industrial Utilities Public transportation Public safety military others Source: IMS 2007 report With the global boom of digitalization , the above markets will be the main markets which are interested in DMR.

The tendency from analogue to digital Part 2 Driven by narrow banding mandate FCC: Mandate by FCC that non frequency efficient (≥12.5kHz) equipment will not be approved after 2011 due to congestion. And all public safety equipments have to be migrated by 2013. GB: non frequency efficient (>12.5kHz) equipment will not be approved after 2010 . Analogue radio will not be approved after 2011. And all radios have to be migrated into digital by 2016.

Part three : Introduction to Hytera DMR Features

1. Hytera DMR Product Advantages

Improved Digital Audio Quality and Range Clearer voice over a greater range Expanded range Static and noise rejection Improved Digital Audio Quality and Range Text Messaging Double voice capacity Longer battery life Increased Robustness Enhanced digital call features Co-exist with analogue system

Double voice capacity(2 slot)

Reduced equipment cost Compared with FDMA solution, 2 slot TDMA solution allows 2 simultaneous calls through 1 repeater, which helps reducing equipment cost

Longer battery life 80% of battery is used for transmission; Two-slot TDMA, however, offers a good way forward. Since an individual call uses only one of the two timeslots, it requires only half of the transmitter’s capacity. 40% Battery Life Improvement with TDMA

Enhanced privacy with digital technology On analogue channel , the audio signal can still be monitored even it is not easy to identify. Digital offers inherent protection against casual eavesdropping using scanner etc. On a digital channel , the audio signal cannot be heard if the signaling or ID doesn’t match。(16776415 ID)

Co-exist with analogue system -- 12.5kHZ channel spacing in digital mode and 12.5/20/25kHZ channel spacing selectable in analogue mode ; --Mixed mode scanning ( scans both analogue channel and digital channel); A D CH1 Analog Radio DMR Radio CH2 DMR Radio
