Moltmann, The Living God and the Fullness of Life Here’s one way to pray . . .   “We are born into this open, divine life. Even before our birth God’s broad space is there for us - ‘Before I formed you in the womb I knew you.’ (Jeremiah 1:5) Moltmann, The Living God and the Fullness of Life WORSHIP WITH CAPITOL HEIGHTS PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH 1100 Fillmore St. Denver, Colorado 80206 www.capitolheightspresbyterian.org capheightspres@gmail.com July 9, 2017 A Celebration of the Living God and the Fullness of Life

“Eternal life is not endless life but life that is filled with God, life in abundance. Eternity is a divine qualification of human life . . . But it is not human faith that acquires eternal life. Eternal life is God-given, and is present in every human life; but it is the believer who perceives it. One recognizes it objectively, and subjectively one absorbs it into one’s life as truth. Faith is joy in the divine fullness of life.” Jürgen Moltmann, The Living God and the Fullness of Life

DOWN TO EARTH AS A DOVE Hymn 300   Our blue light shines with prayers for healing for all who struggle with AIDS. Our light amid barbed wire shines with prayers for healing and freedom for all with chronic illness, severe pain, and under oppression, and for all who suffer from spread of violence. We always light a candle in prayer for Shalom, the fullness of peace and well-being. Our opening - Jesus came preaching, the reign of God is upon you; turn into, believe this good news . . . DOWN TO EARTH AS A DOVE Hymn 300

Let us share a word from our faith orientation - Wisdom’s Call from Proverbs 8 Does not wisdom call out?  Does not understanding raise her voice? At the highest point along the way, where the paths meet, she takes her stand; beside the gate leading into the city, at the entrance, she cries aloud: “To you, O people, I call out; raise my voice to all. You who are simple, gain prudence; you who are foolish, set your hearts on it. Listen, for I have trustworthy things to say; I open my lips to speak what is right. My mouth speaks what is true, for my lips detest wickedness. All the words of my mouth are just; none of them is crooked or perverse. To the discerning all of them are right; they are upright to those who have found knowledge. Choose my instruction instead of silver, knowledge rather than choice gold,  for wisdom is more precious than rubies,  and nothing you desire can compare with her.  “I, wisdom, dwell together with prudence; I possess knowledge and discretion. To fear the Lord is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance,     evil behavior and perverse speech. Counsel and sound judgment are mine; I have insight, I have power.  By me kings reign and rulers issue decrees that are just; by me princes govern, and nobles—all who rule on earth. I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.  With me are riches and honor, enduring wealth and prosperity. My fruit is better than fine gold; what I yield surpasses choice silver. I walk in the way of righteousness, along the paths of justice, bestowing a rich inheritance on those who love me and making their treasuries full.

help us be oriented by Your goodness and grace that makes all new, Let us pray - Into Your hands, O God, we commit our lives, our governance, our values; help us be oriented by Your goodness and grace that makes all new, by Your justice and peace that enables lives to thrive, by Your loving service that lifts up the fallen and enables power to touch and heal, to give sight and understanding, to exercise truth and overcome exploitation. Help us know You so that our living might serve as a light high on a hill so all might see life as You intended, full and free, amen.   We believe in Jesus who found His calling in the words of the prophet - The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor. (Luke 4:18-19) OF THE FATHER’S LOVE BEGOTTEN Hymn 309

A Reading - Matthew 13:31-33 The Morning Offering, with music to aid our prayer and reflection . . .   Mindful of the Living God and Fullness of Life, further reflections . . . A prayerful response - SPIRIT OF THE LIVING GOD, Hymn 322, repeated once

KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE PRIZE Paul and Silas, bound in jail Prayerfully, our celebrations, concerns, opportunities, and reflections . . .   KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE PRIZE Paul and Silas, bound in jail Had no money for to go their bail Keep your eyes on the prize, hold on Chorus - Hold on (hold on), hold on (hold on) Paul and Silas began to shout The Jail door open, and they walked on out Chorus The only chain that a man can stand Is the chain of hand in hand Heard the voice of Jesus say Come unto me, I am the way. Keep your hand on the plow, hold on. Chorus When my way gets dark as night, I know the lord will be my light,

The Closing - You said, I am the way, the truth, the life, and You said, follow me for I am come that you might have life and that in abundance. So we seek You, Your way - truth - and life, which we know to be doing justice, loving kindness, and walking humbly with You. Let us go in that way and with God’s peace, amen.
