Pillars of Teach India Our Knowledge Partner Teach India Volunteers British Council as its knowledge partner to design the curriculum. Along with the learner course book, they have also designed the teacher training course to train the volunteer-teachers. Trains the volunteers and monitors the working of initiative Teach India Volunteers No specific age group or background Delivers the program on-ground Proper selection procedure for volunteers An involvement of 2 hours a day, three days a week for a 100-day period is the time required from a Teach India volunteer. Conduction of several refresher trainings during the cycle 2500 volunteers enrolled so far The Learners At the heart of Teach India, are the learners. Age group - 18 to 32 years (on an average) Monthly family income of under 10,000 rupees (approximately). He/she has had a basic introduction to English but has never used it in daily life NGOs- The backbone of Teach India. Manage the on-ground implementation of the program. Reach out to the target beneficiaries Also provide the classroom space and undertake all the day-to-day affairs at the center. Other Initiatives under Teach India The Tihar Jail Chapter Spoken English Programme for the Tihar Jail inmates. The candidates were shortlisted on the basis of their prison release dates. The purpose was to complete the course and consequently facilitate prison placements upon release. Being released from prison soon after the end of a cycle formed the primary criterion for selection of target learners, so as to help them in the placements being organized by the Jail. Due to the success of the program, the initiative was also extended to selected Delhi Jail staff. Central Industrial Security Force Chapter Train the security personnel at The Indira Gandhi International Airport in order to make them more interactive and efficient. Delhi Police Chapter Police HQ- Training Programs for the Delhi Police personnel, particularly those manning the 100 Helpline and the Police Control Room (PCR) calls. Police Training College- Teach India has now been made a mandatory part of the PSI’s training course curriculum at the PTC. Industrial Training Institutes (Govt.) Chapter Aim of empowering the vital pillar of our society – our Youth, Teach India set out to achieve a new milestone. The vision was to create a ‘New India’’ by collaborating with the ITI. Now, Teach India has been made the official training partner for spoken English training at the ‘World Class Skills Centre’ and the program has been implemented successfully in many more branches of the Industrial Training Institutes in Delhi.
