In 60 seconds you should be able to tell someone who you are, what you do, what value you can bring to a company, as well as your career goals and interests. This should be a clear and concise opening to a conversation. Remember to ask about the person you talk to after your introduction and be curious!

Developing Your Brand Rebecca Bonco, Career Advisor My elevator pitch: I am currently working at JHU Carey Business School leading the undergraduate professional development course and conducting graduate workshops and webinars. I also provide individual career counseling sessions to students and alumni at the DC Center. I have a unique combination of corporate and counseling experiences and I am passionate about increasing cultural awareness and understanding among individuals and organizations. In 5 years, I would like to continue developing my teaching portfolio and complete my licensure for the state of Maryland and start my own private practice specializing in work/life/balance issues. Are you ready to catch? Developing Your Brand Making sure the other person is ready for your “pitch” (throw the ball). Also, demonstrating it is really not a true “pitch” as the elevator pitch should really illicit conversation, therefore making it a game of toss.
