The School Bag Check the bag every night with your daughter to ensure the right books and copies are ready the following morning. Homework Homework will increase when students enter secondary school. It is expected that students do 1 ½ hours per night. There is a Homework Timetable for First Years – max six subjects per night. It is important that Parents/Guardians check the journal regularly to ensure homework is completed. The journal is also used as a means to communicate. Teachers may put notes in here for you to read and you can do the same if you wish to send a note in to the teacher. The journal must be signed at the end of every week. Extra-Curricular Activities Getting involved in extra curricular activities is very important. Taking part builds confidence and gets students mixing with others and will aid the transition. First Day at St Joseph’s College First Day = 24th August 2017 Students will be met at the front door by Principal/Deputy Principal and Gluais Team. Principal/Deputy Principal/ Year Head address students. Induction games take place with Gluais Team. Students are places into base classes. What do if……………. Your daughter finds it difficult to settle/make friends – Call the school and ask to meet the Year Head/Guidance Counsellor. Your daughter is finding her subjects difficult - Call the school and ask to meet the Year Head/Learning Support Coordinator. Your daughter needs to leave school early for an appointment - write a note in her journal and she can give it to her tutor on the morning of the appointment.
