Practical use of TA elements My Thinking Classroom VS My Regular Classroom Practical use of TA elements Klaipeda „Santarves“ School 23/24 – 09- 2016

Project Members Svetlana Kuznecova – Primary school teacher Irena Paulioniene – Lithuanian language teacher Irina Cygankova – Mathematics teacher Larisa Galkina – IT teacher Olga Lukauskiene – Chemistry teacher Tatjana Slabenkiene – English and German languages teacher

Firstly, TA lesson is different from usual lesson because of the teacher’s role. In traditional classroom still it happens that the teacher's role is dominant, and in TA lesson he performs the role of a „traffic regulator“. We believe that the main difference is how do we provide the rules: students do not read the textbook rule, but doing the tasks themselves they find regularity and make conclusions. Such work is preferable to motivated students, because not all tend to „turn his head“, but gradually and others get used. Such lessons organization is actually a challenge for the teacher, it requires careful preparation.

Periodically TA approach was used during the lessons in the 4th grade. Primary Education Periodically TA approach was used during the lessons in the 4th grade. The task of „Sorting“ - in Science and the native language classes for creation of problem situation and setting purpose of the lesson The game „Yes-No“ is often included during reflection time in Science lessons Using the „bank“ to highlight the basic specific features. We have created and successfully used the worksheet in the native language lessons in the study of the topic „Spelling of unstressed personal endings of verbs“ Lesson Worksheet

Lithuanian language All the time I was not satisfied with the lessons start, which, according to the methodological requirements has to start with the task. Now every time is a new challenge for students because of its starting point - it may be the most unexpected. I have always thought and believe that, together with the knowledge the teacher must, in particular, a philologist, to develop students' spirituality, compassion, sense of beauty ... It is for me as important as the knowledge.

Preparation for essay writing. Introduction. Grade 7. After finishing 10th grade students write 200- 250 word essay.. Pupils faced not only with spelling difficulties, but makes a lot of structure errors. Most often students are unable to write a proper introduction, they are not able to make questions and to discuss them. It is difficult for them to engage the reader and to follow the structure of the requirements. It is therefore useful to make the passport of the introduction , then the students can see the model, which will help them to create a proper essay introduction.

When working on this problem lesson cycle was created where: Element-name-meaning (ENM ) model was used By reading and analyzing the text, we collected the „bank“ of the right words By using „Sorting“ we highlighted the basic specific features of introduction and described them Made the „passport“ of introduction Lesson

The study of the parts of speech A worksheet for the study of the grammatical participle in the 7th grade was created Were used: Sorting to identify significant features Model ENM to create a passport of participle. Worksheet

Mathematics In geometric study, in the 7th grade by learning the topic „The quadrilateral“ TA elements were used.  By sorting of flat geometric figures into two groups - polygons and not polygons - students have formulated their own definition of the polygon. Sorting already polygons into two groups, they came to the definition of convex and non-convex polygons, as well as to the conclusion that all the quads - convex. Gathering the box of different convex quadrangles, we divided them into parallelograms, trapezoids and rectangles that have no parallel sides.

By creating a passport of a parallelogram, the students have learned the properties and features of the parallelogram. Further, Bank of different types of parallelograms was created. The square is a special one, the definition of which students give through the concepts of a parallelogram, rhombus, rectangle, quadrangle.

Information Technology Students acquire skills with software. For this, it is important to understand the logic of the program and structure. It helps to use the description of the elements of the processed object by ENM (element-name-meaning) model with the tools ratio.

In 5th grade, it was used in the study of a text editor. We tried to created the passport of the object „computer text“: We identified the main components of the computer text We described parts of the text, using the model of ENM Using passport, we study toolbar Derived parameters of computer character, determined their values correlate with the toolbar Identified visible paragraph options, using submitted by the teacher bank of texts, made their meanings clear, correlated with the toolbar Worksheet 1 Worksheet 2

„Software“ topics in the 7th grade The study of the topic „Software“ in the 7th grade was mainly built on the principle „from the student“. As a challenge, it was suggested to think what everyone would like to change in their home computer? We came out to the concept of software To describe the name of the main feature of the program „sorting“ and the „bank“ of programs were used. Worksheet for self-reflection was created Based on the practical knowledge of students and their life experiences. Worksheet

Lessons are built on the following blocks: Chemistry Lessons are built on the following blocks: 1.  Motivation. Creating a problematic situation. 2.   The content The research (theoretical, practical). Exchange information (working in groups). 3.  Making the passport Information processing (separation meaningful information, confirmation or denial of hypotheses made earlier). 4.   Reflection Lesson

„Oxides“ topic in the 9th grade  Use of the worksheet as an attribute of TA-lesson. In the worksheet : we use the tasks with the missing parameter, sorting tasks (to identify the significant features), using the ENM model.  The tasks help students to derive composition and classification of oxides. Worksheet

„Salt“ topic in the 9th grade In the worksheet : sorting tasks, experimental tasks (practical work) , filling in the ENM model. These tasks help to consolidate knowledge on the composition and properties of salts. Worksheet

Motivating students enthusiastically adopt innovations, they are interested in hearing their friends works, particularly discussing the creative tasks. Lessons are much more dynamic, there are discussions, searching for the best options. We think, it is really difficult to find best suitable training games, to find problem and to solve it. Learn to think outside the box, to overcome the patterns of the mind, control the process of thinking is difficult, but interesting.
