Twelve Reasons to Rethink Your Midweek Madness Powerful Midweek Programs Twelve Reasons to Rethink Your Midweek Madness

12 Reasons to Rethink Your Midweek Ministry Children Matter to Your Ministry You Want to Grow Your Children’s Ministry You Want to Create Excitement about Learning God-Focused Truths You Want to Build a Firm Foundation for the Future Children Learn Using Different Methods You Want Children to Know, Love, and Worship God You Want Children to Learn What Christians Believe and Why They Believe It You Want a Curriculum Grounded in Solid Doctrines Children Should Know You Want to Equip Parents to Disciple and Help Their Children Grow Spiritually You Want Children Excited to Come to Church You Want Children to Learn Truths That Will Stick with Them for Life You Want a Program That Will Fit the Unique Needs of Your Ministry

Children Matter to Your Ministry BIG FOUR – Primary Goals of Kids4Truth Clubs Effectively teach important truths about God to boys and girls through meaningful, motivational, and memorable learning experiences Define and refine the minimum standard of Christian knowledge that boys and girls ought to know in order to avoid confusion discourage hypocrisy promote authentic faith Utilize a tried-and-true effective method by which we fortify young hearts and minds with doctrine Motivate and equip local churches, families, and individuals to become effective communicators of Biblical truth to children

You Want Children to Learn What Christians Believe and Why They Believe It The Curriculum Goal If a child begins attending Kids4Truth Clubs at age four, he will understand 120 doctrinal questions by grade 6—fully able to provide answers with supporting Bible verses.

You Want a Curriculum Grounded in Solid Doctrines Children Should Know What We Teach…12 Doctrinal Themes Each one of the 12 doctrinal themes contains 10 foundational questions and answers. We refer to these as the “top ten.” The top ten comprise the 120 foundational questions and answers. The 12 doctrinal themes are color coded: Themes 1-3 = GOLD, Themes 4-6 = GREEN, Themes 7-9 = RED, Themes 10-12 = BLUE

You Want Children to Learn Truths That Will Stick with Them for Life The Foundational Curriculum On every level, children will learn answers to the same 120 questions primarily by memorizing the answers with Bible verses. 6 doctrinal themes are covered every TruthBook. One TruthBook usually lasts 1 year, but can last longer if desired. The answers are developed deeper and deeper for every progressing level. We systematically build upon the knowledge children have learned in previous levels!

You Want to Build a Firm Foundation for the Future The Foundational Curriculum = Parallels Document The Parallels documents outline: 12 doctrinal themes Core 120 questions with the answers for each level Like the TruthBooks, it is available as Book 1 and Book 2 This document is great for: Review gaming Scope & sequence Visual of how the levels work together Q&A: The question is the same, but the answer grows and deepens for each level. The answer for the lower levels is contained within the answer for the upper levels.

You Want a Program That Will Fit the Unique Needs of Your Ministry Four Levels of Learning There are 4 levels, with a scope & sequence of two years each. Each level covers the same 12 doctrinal themes and 120 questions. The Pace a ministry goes through the TruthBooks are flexible. Most people choose to finish the TruthBook in one school or calendar year. Six doctrinal themes are covered in each TruthBook. Most churches rotate between TruthBook 1 and TruthBook 2 years so that children are all learning within the same doctrinal themes. Level names reflect the goals & expectations for that age group. All level ages/grades are recommendations and may be adjusted per your setting.

You want to Create Excitement about Learning God-Focused Truths TruthBook Content Exciting, relevant, and applicable – yet uniform – by using a variety of different components in each unit and doctrinal theme. Flexible in awards, pace, materials, schedule, and the way that the curriculum is used so each ministry can make it fit their unique needs. TruthBook Units include: Memorize It! Commentary Workbook portion or Coloring Sheet Random Items Brain Stretcher Heart Question Bonus Q&A

Children Learn Using Different Methods Curriculum Components TruthBook components are similar across the levels of learning. Level 4 has additional components. Component names and Icons match the theme of each level. Level 1 components include information for parents so that they know what their child is learning.

You Want to Create Excitement about Learning God-Focused Truths Yearly Schedule One TruthBook = One Year! Breaks the TruthBook into Bite-Size Pieces! 36 weeks = 6 weeks per doctrinal theme. 48 weeks = 8 weeks per doctrinal theme. Yearly Calendar Provides direction for parents to help their child. Should include special events and services. Notes weeks taken off for Christmas break, special services, missions conference, etc. September 9 – October 14 October 21 – December 3 December 10 – February 3 February 10 – March 10 March 23 – April 27 May 4 – June 9 God’s Word: The Bible The Greatness of God The Goodness of God The Trinity God’s Creation God’s View of You 9/9 – 0101 & 0102-picnic 9/16 – 0103 & 0104 09/23 – 0105 & 0106 09/30 – 0107 & 0108 10/7 – 0109 & 0110 10/14 – Review Units 10/21 – 0201 & 0202 10/28 – 0203 & 0204 11/4 – 0205 & 0206 11/11 – 0207 & 0208 12/2 – 0209 & 0210 12/9 – Review Units-Christmas Party 12/16 – 0301 & 0302 12/23 & 12/30 – No K4T 1/6 – 0303 & 0304 1/13 – 0305 & 0306-snowballs 1/20 – 0307 & 0308 1/27 – 0309 & 0310 2/3 – Review Units 2/10 – 0401 & 0402 2/17 – 0403 & 0404 2/24 – 0405 & 0406 3/2 – 0407 & 0408 3/9 – 0409 & 0410-snowcones 3/16 – Review Units 3/23 – 0501 & 0502 3/30 – 0503 & 0504 4/6 – 0505 & 0506-glow in the dark night 4/13 – 0507 & 0508 4/20 – 0509 & 0510 4/27 – Review Units 5/4 – 0601 & 0602 5/11 – 0603 & 0604 5/18 – 0605 & 0606 5/25 – 0607 & 0608 6/2 – 0609 & 0610 6/9 – Review Units –Year End Awards Night

You Want Children Excited to Come to Church Awards Awards are an inexpensive way to motivate children to recite the “Memorize It” portions of the curriculum. $2.25 for 5 patches! Ministries decide how awards are earned for their children! As motivational or challenging as a church desires. Recommended Award Scenarios are located in the front of each TruthBook. Communicates with parents how awards are earned. Award patches are ironed onto the Awards Standard (sash).

Children Learn Using Different Methods Typical Club Service Schedule Different club activities help engage children to learn using different methods. Auditory Visual Kinetic (hands on, active, lively) Every element of the program is designed to reflect what is being taught in the teaching lesson and TruthBook. Churches choose what program elements they want to use. 5-10 minutes: Welcome, Announcements, Songs 15-20 minutes: Teacher TruthTime Lesson 20-30 minutes: Small Group Time 20-45 minutes: Activity Time 5-10 minutes: Awards, Announcements and Dismissal Note: schedule can be adjusted to meet the service time requirements at your ministry.

You Want to Equip Parents to Disciple and Help Their Children Grow Spiritually TruthBook = Student Workbook Ideal Scenario = Children work on their own or with their parents during the week. Work on memorizing Memorize It! portions Work through exercises in the TruthBook units Memorize It! portion is recited to small group leader at church. TIP: TruthBooks make wonderful family devotional or family dinner-time discussion material! Realistic Scenario = 50% of Children work to memorize and do exercises in the TruthBook during small group time. Recite Memorize It! portion to small group leader OPTIONAL: Discussion Group Some churches choose to break small group time into two segments: Discussion over TruthBook units Recitation Time Helpful for churches who are using the program to reach unchurched children.

Formal Training (if desired) In-House Training Register Children = Helpful Information Will help determine what to order Contact and health/behavior information Will generate additional excitement Prepare materials = Yields Success (no last minute concerns!) Order and organize materials Print and assemble record keeping resources Prepare teacher/worker supplies Prepare Parental Information Packet = “Partner” with Parents to Help Disciple Their Children #2 Prepare so your launch is successful!

You Want to Grow Your Children’s Ministry Transitioning Between Club Programs Do NOT: Instead Take away elements children or workers LOVED with former program. Store, Awards, Games, Refreshments Expect workers/parents to understand program without training. Expect everyone to be as excited as you are about the change. Change programs without having a reason available. Don’t spring the change on your workers at the last minute! Adjust the format to fit your new club goals and needs. Wean children and workers off of elements you want to change. Provide training and instruction to both workers and parents. Decorate the room so that it looks fun and exciting. Promote the new program to create excitement. Have an explanation “WHY” you changed programs. Communicate! With parents and workers. Instead Instead Instead Instead
