Advanced Placement GOAL To help students develop the study skills, habits of mind and critical thinking skills that they will need in college. Students who take AP courses are given the chance to earn college credit (while still in high school) and to stand out in the college admissions process. MISD offers AP courses and exams in many subjects. Exams are administered each year in May. Score of 3 or higher can be considered for college credit. It is the responsibility of the student/parent to check with prospective colleges to see if AP scores will count for college credit. Pre-AP and AP English and Social Studies courses require summer reading Pre-AP / AP Guiding Criteria and Agreement Form

GRADE CLASSIFICATION 18 12 6 0 to 5 In order to be considered in the designated grade classification, the appropriate number of credits must be earned at the end of spring semester.

A+ Lab The A+ Lab is a credit recovery option for students who were not successful in one or more of their academic classes. After registering for an A+ class with their counselor, the student can make up the needed credit in the A+ lab before school or after school until 9 pm, Monday-Thursday All course work, including exams, must be done on campus.
