Homework Homework is due the following day or on posted date 10 pts. for homework on time 9 pts. for next day 8 pts. For following day… Grading will be done on a point scale Homework- 10 pts. Quizzes- 20-30 pts Tests- 40-60 pts. Projects- 20 pts. Every child will get a study guide before tests. Math homework will usually be Mon.-Thurs. Spelling- weekly Grammar-Tues. and Thurs. Sc/SS- when assigned Notebook checks for a grade

English Two Categories on report cards(English/Reading) Grammar-book, usually Tues/Thurs homework Spelling-book, workbook each night, tests on Fri. Writing-journal, writing assignments, cross curricular activities **Students will be learning how to write a research paper for Invention Convention

Reading Reading-Guided Reading-Jan Richardson’s G.R. Program Read novels together as class and finish work packet associated with that book Vocabulary-vocabulary from other subjects such as Sc/SS/Math AR- Each student is required to earn 20 pts per quarter AR will be averaged into their Reading grade(20 pts total)

Math Traditional Math vs. Singapore Math- Student can show work whichever way he/she feels comfortable Homework- Mon-Thurs, hopefully no homework on the weekends Students get time in class to start/finish homework Class- Go over homework, teach new lesson, classwork, homework

Math Topics To Cover Place Value Multiplication/Division GCF, LCM, Simplest Form Mixed Numbers Fractions- add, subtract, multiply, divide Probability Graphs- line, pictograph, bar Angles Capacity, gallon, quart, pint, cup Unit of Length Weight, Temp, Time Zones

Social Studies World Geography 1st Quarter- N.America and Carribean, Map Skills, Virginia History Review 2nd Quarter- S. America 3rd Quarter- Asia/Australia 4th Quarter- Africa We are putting together our interactive notebooks each day. Right now if you would like to look at your child’s notebook, it is located in their desk. I will periodically have notebook checks for a grade.

Social StudiesTopics to Cover Map Skills-longitude, latitude, equator, prime meridian, how to read maps, different kinds of maps… Review of VA History using map skills Cultural, Religious, and Social aspects of regions

Science Life Science Earth Science Physical Science Invention Convention We will be making interactive notebooks. Periodically, I will have notebook checks for a grade. We will be doing labs in class and as many hands-on activities as possible.
