Overseas College Counseling

Our goal is to educate students and families about educational opportunities around the world, guide them through the application process and help each student find the best fit university depending on their particular interests and qualifications.

Açı’s Curriculum & Activities Academic English International standardized courses: AP, IGCSE Foreign languages (DELF and DELE) Clubs Internships Opportunities for leadership

9th and 10th Graders Give a presentation to 9th and 10th grade parents every year on studying at universities abroad. Have meetings on request with 9th and 10th grade students or parents to discuss their plans. Offer the PSAT to prepare students for the SAT. Hold student panel on summer school opportunities. Meet individually with students to discuss summer school options.

11th Graders Mandatory individual meeting with students and parents before school starts to make sure the student is on track. Plan testing dates (IELTS/ TOEFL, SAT/ACT, SAT II, individual school tests) Regular meetings in spring to develop list of universities. Host university visits. Offer workshops on how to complete applications and write essays.

12th Graders Meet before school starts to finalize list. Provide support with applications and essays. Write recommendations/ help teachers with their recommendations. Represent Açı at CIS conference to meet with admission representatives. Follow up with universities, as necessary. Guide students with final decision and preparing for transition.

Results Class of 2016: Class of 2017 53% of students went to universities abroad 60% US 15% Canada 15% UK 10% Europe Class of 2017 75% applied abroad (but a few may stay in Turkey) 42% US 25% Canada 22% UK 8% Europe 3% undecided
