Jesus – the great connector Initiated relationships. Didn’t allow prejudice to effect His relationships. Showed forgiveness in relationships. Confirmed that relationships are more important than legalism and tradition. Developed relationships in the last moments of His life.
Matthew 9:35-38 Notice how Jesus connected with people: Jesus Went. He Connected Physically. Am I going? Jesus Saw. He Connected Visually. Do I see? Jesus Felt. He Connected Emotionally. What do I feel? Jesus Prayed. He Connected Spiritually. Am I praying?
Philippians 2:1-8 (The Message) Have you gotten anything at all out of following Christ? Has His love made a difference in your life? Does being in a community of the Spirit mean anything to you? Do you have a heart? Do you care?
Do these 3 things Develop strong relationships Put others first … serve them
High Road Leadership People are illogical, unreasonable and self-centred. Love them anyway. If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives. Do good anyway. If you are successful, you win false friends and true enemies. Succeed anyway. The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway. Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable. Be honest and frank anyway.
High Road Leadership The biggest men with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest men with the smallest minds. Think big anyway. People favour underdogs but follow only top dogs. Fight for a few underdogs anyway. What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight. Build anyway. People really need help, but may attack you if you do help them. Help them anyway. Give the world the best you have and you’ll get kicked in the teeth. Give the world the best you have anyway.
Do these 3 things Develop strong relationships Put others first … serve them Think like Jesus Jesus thought that connecting with people was more important than declaring His rights and claiming His privileges.
