What is mentoring? Mentoring is defined as a relationship in which an experienced entrepreneur assists another in developing specific skills and knowledge that will enhance the less-experienced entrepreneur’s business and personal growth.
Mentorship Business mentoring is crucial to success. There are various types of business mentoring including: Counselling and guidance by successful business persons, peers and professionals; Sharing of experiences in business forums and associations; Attachment and practical training;
What does mentoring involve? It involves personal and lifestyle issues which require the engagement of specialised professionals. Common issues include: How to manage personal finances; Time management; Effective communication; Managing lifestyle and chronic diseases including HIV/AIDS; Managing stress; Managing alcohol and drug abuse; Separating family from business matters; Crisis management; Handling peer pressure; Handling success; Managing partnership and groups (group dynamics, inside politics etc.)
What is Networking? Networking involves individuals forming mutually supportive relationships. It calls for developing and maintaining contacts and personal connections with people who might be helpful to you and your enterprise. It is necessary to develop networks as one begins to grow a business.
