Two Pathways Pathway 1 Pathway 2 Four A Levels + Three A Levels + Enrichment Programme Either the Extended Project or AS Mathematics + A Level Mathematics to be sat in Year 12 for those studying Further Mathematics Extended Project & AS Mathematics to be completed in Year 12 All other examinations to be sat in Year 13 All full A Level examinations to be sat in Year 13

Pathway 1 or 2? Pathway 1 Pathway 2 Further Maths students must take four A Levels. Universities make offers on three A Levels. It is the standard A Level diet. If academically strong and well-organised gives added breadth. Manageable workload Some courses at some universities have a high points score entry tariff Better to achieve well on 3 rather than less well on four – A*AA would get you into Oxford, A*ABB would not. Allows time for the Extended Project or AS Maths, significant enhancements to academic profile. Three A Levels with the Extended Project or AS Mathematics? Highly regarded by universities. Good for keeping some Mathematics ticking over. Opportunity to develop research and independent learning skills. Allows greater flexibility of full A Level choices. Can be on a subject of real interest. Helps with subjects that require statistical analysis, such as Geography or Psychology. Can be linked to a university course or career. Will enhance a university application. Finished by summer 2018 to allow for focus on remaining 3 A Levels. Worth up to 70 UCAS points. Worth up to 50 UCAS points.

WCHS Sixth Form Entry Criteria Minimum entry requirements GCSE grade 6 or above in English Language (or English Literature) and Mathematics. GCSE grade 6 or above in the subject (or related subject) they wish to study, with exceptions in Mathematics and the Sciences: A level Mathematics applicants need to have GCSE grade 7 or above in Mathematics. A Level Further Mathematics applicants need to have GCSE grade 8 or 9 in Mathematics Applicants wishing to study A levels in either Biology, Chemistry or Physics must have studied Triple Science for GCSE and achieved GCSE grades AAB or above.
