Life  Spanish writer known mainly for his poetry and essays. Within the context of the Generation of 27 he is considered one of his greatest poets. In 1913 he was appointed secretary of the Literature section of the Ateneo de Madrid. At the conclusion of the Spanish Civil War he was exiled in the United States until his death. Involved in the creation of the International Summer University of Santander
