Energy Efficiency Standards in Buildings and Infrastructure Implementation of energy efficiency standards in Kenya is through Energy (Energy Management ) Regulations 2012, gazetted on 25th May 2012 under legal notice No. 102 as a subsidiary legislation under The Energy Act No 12 of 2006 were formulated to improve energy management in the demand side. The Regulations states measures to be followed in order to improve energy efficiency and energy management in the demand side. ( energy consumption)

Objectives of Energy Management Regulatory Framework Through an objective regulatory framework a country can achieve the following: Energy Management system which can be monitored; Experts in energy management and energy efficiency; ( reducing wastage) A system of setting energy efficiency stds Incentive system Professional bodies to promote energy management Coordinated monitoring measurement and verification system
Current Achievements 55 Energy Auditors 38 Energy Audit firms 1005 Energy Audits, predicting 12% to 27% annually that is since January 2013. (565,537,405.45kWh for four years, about 16 MW plant) 32 Implementation reports, reporting 17%to 23% annual savings (3,762,5311.35 kWh annual, about 4MW plant) Four Compliance certificates, verified 16% to 22% savings (11,762,531.35 about 1.3MW plant)

Current Achievements Formation of Association of Energy Professionals of Eastern Africa (AEPEA), in 2014. Increased training of Certified Energy Managers , hence widening the scope of knowledge in energy efficiency.
